There was a time when the Commonwealth title really ment something, but now due to multi alphabet international bauble's it appears to have become some kind of secondary British belt. Okay I know Andrew & Jason Moloney, Tim Tszyu, Kris George, Michael Zarafa & Richard Commey have all been recent champions, but when you look at past names such as Tommy Burns, Hogan "Kid" Bassey, Joe Gains, Ben Foord, **** Tiger, Jimmy Curruthers, Trevor Berbick, Azuma Nelson, Ayub Kalule, Barry Michael, Willie & Vic Toweel, Lionel Rose, Tony Mundine & Johnny Famecon ETC things are looking a bit poor lately. Hopefull with Matchroom branching outside of the UK this once prestigious title may start making a bit of a comeback. (The Commonwealth games is a big thing so why not the Commonwealth Boxing Council title?).
