  • Comments Thread For: William Zepeda Soundly Outpoints Joseph Diaz, Surges To Title Contention

William Zepeda went more rounds than ever to lodge by far his best win to date. A high-volume attack paved the way for the unbeaten Zepeda to surge past former IBF junior lightweight titlist Joseph 'JoJo' Diaz in a twelve-round, unanimous decision victory. Judges Carla Caiz (119-109), Zachary Young (119-109) and Fernando Villareal (118-110) all scored in favor of Zepeda in their DAZN-aired main event Saturday evening at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Who've we got? I'm liking Diaz in a mild upset. I don't think Zepeda's greater reach will stop Diaz getting combos off on him because Diaz could still get some work off on Haney and Haney is a far superior technician than Zepeda.
I saw Alvarado could take Zepeda's shots and he came up from FW just like Diaz has - I'm hoping Diaz can take the incoming as there's no doubt Zepeda is heavy handed. I'm thinking Diaz can bust Zepeda up more than Alvarado - maybe enough to make Zepeda be more cautious down the stretch allowing Diaz to win rounds on activity.

        Thoughts?

I think Diaz pulls off the upset, not really sold on zepeda yet. They've been moving him really slow so it seems like they're not too confident with him either. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise me.
