I’m still conflicted with these circus matches.

Yeah, it brings boxing mainstream, but I worry that casuals and new fans will confuse these celebrity matches with real championship caliber boxers.

I guarantee you there are some people who look at Jake Paul as the face of boxing or as the P4P king. I’m just waiting for Jake Paul to slip up and get utterly embarrassed.

He dressed every one of his bouts up. It’s absolutely brilliant matchmaking. Boxing well known figures and former retired athletes from different sports. I must say he’s impressive with what he’s done so far, but he can’t let this go to his head.

One of these days, he’s gonna step up just slightly in class and he’ll get embarrassed. He’ll lose to any fridge contender or anyone with semi decent boxing skills who are in their prime.

Dudes made noise thus far and I must give him credit for that.

I would never buy one of his PPV’s though.

Which means he has a good chance of winning this match up. Before the news, I was thinking Silva by beat down TKO due to his extensive fight experience and proven power, but if he's taken trauma in sparing he may go down as Jake Paul has show he has some pop. I just hope he's not hurt or damaged for YouTube views as he really is a legend. Been watching him since the K1 days, always exciting.

I see what you mean, but Ryan Garcia would be a better example of the slow transition going on on the promotional side of the industry. This guy will have the same impact as Connor McGreggor in terms of marketing and promotion. A step down a dark path to change. He's taking the old carnival and travelling salesman (with cure all tonic/snake oil) strategy and levraging social media. People will slow down to watch an accident..

Like in other pro sports, there is a shift of power to the athletes happening. Even national sports teams have key players shinning light on the $ secretly being made by the federations using their names in backroom deals. Athletes now have the business savvy to keep the powers that be on their toes.

Way to much $ being made for any real change to happen. Also, the change would have to be global..all markets. Was going to use an example from human history, but it may be perceived as a political statement..
