Define the term 'casual fan'

The term casual boxing fan gets thrown about on here from time to time.


I would just like to know what you would define as the make up of a casual boxing fan.

Guys who watch boxing occasionally, and dont know much about the sport, but like to watch it. Also they go with the hype, as a result of lack of knowledge on the sport.

Someone who will watch the Cotto Pacquiao fight and maybe the Mayweather Marquez fight and that's all the boxing they watch all year.

would you class someone who watches those fights and maybe only a couple more casuals when you take in to consideration that they may be living in Europe for example and stay up till 3/4 am to watch it.

in the words of roger mayweather people"who dont know **** about boxing"..they just watch mega fights,dont know much about the fighters,probally still think mike tyson is the heavyweight champ..

A casual fan, IMO, is the kind of fan who will watch all the mega fights on PPV or some of the fights on HBO WCB or Showtime World WCB.

They really wouldn't watch BAD, Shobox, or FNF or up and coming fighters, and really know about current fighters and who is popular now.

They say things like...

"Who would win? Bernard Hopkins or Floyd Mayweather?"
