No surprises. Joshua is effectively a part-time fighter since 2019, reasons notwithstanding. As a commodity with the mist in front of him, we'll be lucky to see him by end of April. As a fighter, he should be trying to regroup AND stay sharp with TWO bouts under his belt by end of March 2019, and another for the summer, setting up something for September-October 2023.
As it stands, I think barring the unforeseen with the players surrounding him, Joshua is a couple or 3 bouts from retirement.

We will absolutely NOT see undisputed in March, and I will bet you actual money.Joshua and Hearn losing control of the belts was the best thing to happen to boxing, AJ fights once a year and it is a good chance that the fighter chosen is handpicked 38-41 year old sacrificial lamb. Now, we will get Undisputed in March 2023 and then a slew of great mandatories after that,
It’s actually a shame: your optimism should be reality.Comment

"Hearn had said that he wanted a speedy conclusion to talks to ensure that Joshua could still box in December in case negotiations broke down because he was keen to get back into action."
Ron Lewis, hang your head in shame. Nobody is buying this!
Hearn did everything he could to prolong negotiations as he didn't want AJ to fight in December and the evidence is right there. Fury is fighting on December 3rd when it could've been AJ.
AJ on the other hand is now looking at March.
That tells you all you need to know about who wanted the speedy conclusion to talks. It certainly wasn't Hearn!
‘Roíds. I can see it now, though I couldn’t before.
Ofc, Fury’s rush to fight in December can be speculated to relate to a cycle, too.
But re: AJ, guessing his team feigned just enough interest to not raise su****ion or lose face.
Since roids are the worst kept secret in boxing, guessing Fury, Warren and co guessed they wouldn’t get an affirmative answer from AJ, and that’s prob why they made the offer.Last edited by P to the J; 10-20-2022, 04:12 AM.Comment

I agree but I think Hearn's angle is his cash cow could even lose to Whyte and in his first showing on Dazn PPV, it would be as bad as his first showing in America on PPV .Comment

I think Hearn realises Joshua is pretty irrelevant in the big picture now and that Fury will do away with his warm up pretty easily and move on to a probable undisputed fight with Usyk if they can get Usyk to agree a date and according to the Usyk team that was alway's going to be 'some time early 2023' as Hearn is now saying the exact same thing regarding Joshua's 'return' ..early 2023.. He's obviously trying to keep his struggling fighter in the picture on the back of this likely undisputed date and if they had less arrogance they would have Joshua as chief support with a view of what would be a mega bucks , career biggest payday against the winner....but I'm dreaming as Joshua would have to realise what he is at this time .....second fiddle.

Regardless to when the fight happens. I think real soon, boxing fans should know the opponent.
Because if Joshua's next fight is at word level, that type of level of fighter needs optimal time to prepare.
A December fight date is probably too short notice, for these type opponents 'To prepare for the biggest fight of their career'.
Many people have mentioned fighters such as Hrgovic, Zhang. That level of opponent, I don't think would of been ready for December.

Very astute speculation. You've given me something new to ponder. It makes sense.
