    Pound for Pound: What does it really mean?

    Im pretty sure it means given that all fighters are all the same size, the number 1 p4p should beat them all.

    but somehow, its meaning has changed. people sometimes confuse it with greatness, or legacy.

    what makes this mythical rankings more confusing is the fact that floyd rather pick opponents he can look good against.

    pacquiao on the other hand fights fighters in which he should be the underdog. and wins.

    At first, i had my problems when floyd's stans said he is the number1 pound for pound. but i thought, if pacquiao and floyd are the same size (they're not), i would say that floyd should still be favored to win. however, it doesn't mean that floyd is greater than pacquiao.

    Pacquiao's legacy is already cemented. all he's doing now is adding to his greatness. Floyd's on the other hand is in question. Not saying floyd is not a great fighter, but it is in question in the sense that we may not know how great he can be given who he chooses to fight. he maybe as great as he says he is but we may never know.

    I have no problems if people rank floyd higher than pacquiao in these p4p rankings, but i would have a problem if someone says floyd is a greater boxer than pacquiao.

    P4P means keep moving up in weight and keep kicking ass. And I mean fight someone well worth it from that weight too. It's easy to stay in one weight and look good but try moving up and see what happen.

        It seems like a political designation given by the boxing powers that be to orchestrate the fights they want with a semblance of legitimacy within the sport.

        Its become more of a popularity contest than real rankings. What the ring did today was a bogus sham.

          That's exactly what it means. Ignore the ones who change the meaning, they are wrong. It was never necessary to move up in weight and defeat bigger fighters. They can (and have) remain/ed at the same weight and still been highly ranked P4P.

          P4P = irregardless of weight.

          Moving up into higher divisions and winning might sway the opinions of the people who compile pound for pound lists, but again, it's not a requirement.

            what has pac man done to make him great. nothing compared to Floyd. Floyd will beat Pac Man worst than he beat Marquez and no there not the same size but everyone wants to see this. Lets be reale Marquez was chasing PAC MAN and really he was the number pound for pound champ after Floyd retire after he beat PAC TWICE. He gave PAC fits for twenty for rounds and he fought better comp at light weight. P williams is the man why want Mosley fight him is it because he likes picking on smaller fighter or slower dighters like Margarito please.
