I've often wondered this, so I've compiled a list of 10 possibilities.
1. Because Oscar won the Gold Medal and Floyd got the Bronze Participation medal?
Floyd's first major flop was in the Olympics when he was humiliated by a less experienced fighter. Oscar on the other hand won the Gold and became The Golden Boy,instantly catapulting into stardom, whereas Floyd had to shuck, jive, maneuver his way into notoriety as opposed to the stardom he sought.
2. Because Oscar's promotional company is hugely successful and Floyd's is floundering even though TMT is really just a subsidiary of PBC and not even its own thing?
Floyd is so jealous of Oscar, he copies his every move. From signing to Bob Arum to starting his own promotional company. He's even gone so far as to try sabotaging GBP with tortious interference by luring Richard Schaefer away and vowing to stop working with Goldenboy Promotions. This of course backfired when Schaefer soon realized that Bronzeboy Promotions aka TMT was a shell company with no real infrastructure and a ticking timebomb with the tax man, and Schaefer started his own company, which failed even though he was supposedly the real brains behind GBP. Floyd's humiliation was complete when his promotional outfit was exposed after a Boxing Journalist arrived in Las Vegas to cover a fight and upon getting into an Uber, discovered that TMT Champion Boxer Thomas Dulorme was his Uber driver.
3. Because Oscar fought the very best fighters in 8 weight classes, won titles in most of them, and earned respect that can never be taken away while Floyd focused solely on his dubious Undefeated record and is forever known as a cherry picker and a vulture?
Oscar began at super featherweight, and by the end of his career he was taking on Bernard Hopkins who is one of the greatest Light Heavyweights of all times. Bernard is an old school throwback Philadelphia fighter, possibly the most respected in the game, and Bernard was so impressed with Oscar and respects him so much that Bernard went to work for Oscar, who remains his boss to this very day. Floyd, meanwhile, hovered in the lower weights where he could dominate inexperienced and past their prime fighters and even lost to a few of them.
4. Because Oscar unified the Welterweight division when it was the hottest in history, and Floyd was too scared to even try to become undisputed?
Oscar came up from 130 and entered history's hottest division in it's hottest era, beating all 4 champions Ike Quartey, Felix Trinidad (disregard the fake decision) Hall of Fame legend Pernell Whitaker, and Oba Carr. Floyd however stuck with the WBC who were enamored by his kickbacks and let him choose his own mandatories in the extremely rare incidents where Floyd actually had an enforced mandatory. They also bent the doping rules for Floyd as did the state of Nevada where he fought exclusively after WADA became prevalent. Oscar is loved and respected for this, and Floyd doesn't understand why he is ridiculed in comparison.
5. Because Oscar won their fight, despite being old, shopworn, and weight drained?
Oscar poleaxed Floyd with the jab and clearly outfought Floyd in 7 rounds. Oscars mileage did not allow him to finish strong however, and the decision was stolen. Regardless, Floyd lives in the Boxing world not the fan world, and in Boxing circles EVERYONE knows and acknowledges that Oscar whooped him.
6. Because Oscar had a "passing of the guard" fight for himself, then won Floyd's "passing of the guard" fight as well?
Oscar was not satisfied with just being a great young champion, he wanted to be an immortal Hall of famer and to do that, he needed to face and defeat the infamous, notorious, formidable Julio Cesar Chavez. Oscar came through with flying colors and beat Chavez not once but twice! Floyd's passing of the guard fight would have been with Pernell Whitaker. Floyd would not dare risk it and as a result he has no lineage to greatness. To add insult to injury, Oscar went on to beat the crap out of Whitaker, in essence taking Floyd's guard with him to CANASOTA.
7. Because Oscar gets the ladies and Floyd has to buy them then they leave him anyway?
Oscar was a heart throb in his teens and is still a heart throb in his 50s. He gets top shelf women and he keeps them for as long as he wants them. Floyd on the other hand has to buy his women. When his fiance Shantel "Mrs" Jackson started talking about separation, Floyd drafted a proposal to her where he would pay X amount for any plastic surgery she wanted and would get her X amount of movie role auditions among other perks, if she would stay with him. The situation came to a head when Mrs Jackson ran off with broke artist Nelly, sending Floyd into a jealous rage where he accused her of murdering their unborn twins. Most women would see having children with Floyd as a golden ticket, but Mrs Jackson aborted her golden ticket and ran off with a man who has no money. She then went public with what everyone already assumed, that Floyd had been abusing her which was consistent with his prison conviction. Floyd also lost a fiance to Freck Billionaire, whom Floyd had illegally signed to his now failed record label "Philthy Rich Records" before getting sued for it, losing the case, then accusing Freck of stealing a million dollar watch which was later found to have been gifted to Freck by Floyd's fiance, who moved in with Freck after the court case ended. Floyd is currently engaged to one of the dancers from his failed strip club.
8. Because Oscar never went to prison for beating women and Floyd did?
Hard to imagine that this could be something to blame Oscar for until you think about the grand scheme of things. Floyd went to prison for abusing his children's mother in front of their kids and the public hates him for it. Floyd's children are now being involved in similar incidents as the generational curse continues. Oscar maintains his squeaky clean public image aside from a few failed blackmail attempts from money hungry thots...and Floyd is enraged that he does not get the same love.
9. Because Oscar is a more successful businessman than Floyd, and is quiet about it?
Oscar made millions in the ring then parlayed it into hundreds of millions with his promotional company. Oscar does not brag about this, which is the sign of true success. Floyd however, carries around suitcases full of movie prop money and is constantly bragging about his wealth. We all know what that really means. Car repossessions, property liens, power bill payment plans, insurance fraud, failed businesses, and an insurmountable tax bill tell the real story. Floyd is good at keeping up appearances for his broke fans living vicariously through him, but the house of cards is collapsing. Quickly.
10. Because Oscar has a platinum record as a musician and Floyd's Philthy Rich Records lost millions with no successful artists or releases?
Oscar took the music world by storm with his massively successful Spanish album, which earned platinum sales status worldwide. Floyd, forever trying to one-up Oscar, started his own record company called "Philthy Rich Records." After spending millions promoting some mediocre talents and using the label to lure young women into his web of abuse, Floyd finally cut his losses and threw in the towel when he was successfully sued for signing artist "Freck Billionaire" who was already under contract with a real label. On his way out, Freck stole one of Floyd's watches as well as Floyd's fiance at that time. It was later proven that Floyd's watch was actually given to Freck by Floyd's fiance as a gift in the early stages of her affair with Freck.
Are there any other possible reasons that I missed here? I'd really like to know what drives Floyd's jealousy and hatred for The Golden Boy.
