He beat Popkins at his peak. When Popkins was younger, he was not nearly as smart. The fight would have been extremely one-sided, ending in brutal fashion with Popkins being knocked out of the ring.

And let's not even talk about Roy, because it's just too degrading to talk about someone who got the worst beating of his life.

We'll have to disagree. Roy and Bernard dropped Joe to the canvas after they had accomplished much in the sport.

Could Joe have handled a heavyweight like Roy did in a championship title fight?

i agree, the fight was worthless, JMM had no business being in there, the size disparity was just too much.

That doesn't say much when they both lost. It only proves that they couldn't keep him down. Calzaghe was at the end of his career and past his peak, btw.

It would've mattered more had they met in their primes. Different outcome.

LOL, that is ***n garbage, particularly in the context of Jones. One is coming off his two biggest career wins, the other hasnt beaten a top fighter in 6 years. Trying to put them on a level is beyond ******ed.

and neither wanted Joe when they were all in their primes.

Correction. None wanted to leave their countries to fight each other, including Joe.

but who did end up crossing the pond?
