The problem that pbc is having is that it doesn’t negotiate through the media. It doesn’t try to make fights by shaming other fighters in other promotions etc etc. Haymon not Espinosa don’t have a culture of having a handful of YouTube channels that act as their personal mouthpieces for promises of exclusives and executive treatment. When pbc comes out and announces big fights it’s often a surprise and the fans get extremely happy to hear it. The media, especially the Wild West YouTube boxing media, has gotten used to a certain promoter making them an active part of fight negotiations often when there is no actual negotiation between the promoters, fighters, managers, advisors etc etc.

Errol has fought for and holds three of the four belts. He's clearly the A-side. Spence just wants to solidify his status as the best in the division by taking Crawford's strap too. Otherwise, after beating down Ugas for the 3rd belt, instead of calling out Bud, he could have just moved up to 154. But nah, its Strap Season!
