    2012 could have been great year for Canelo and GGG..

    When I saw Bret_Hart's Canelo vs Williams thread, I thought 2012's potential for Canelo and GGG.

    Canelo would fight Williams on 15th September. Unfortunately, the accident happened. It destroyed a decent career and took Williams' legs from him. Then, Canelo fought Josesito Lopez who is much lower opposition.

    Williams+Trout+Mayweather+Lara quartet in a row would be phenomenally good on Canelo's resume.

    Williams --> Physical prime despite KO loss
    Trout --> Physical prime
    Mayweather --> Fundamental prime
    Lara --> Physical prime

    GGG would fight Pirog on 25th August. Then, Pirog injured in training and retired. And, GGG fought another tomato can. Possibly Pirog win would make GGG's weak resume better. If he had lost, Pirog would have been boogeyman until today. It was high risk fight for both side.

    2012 was bad year for boxing. Both Pirog and Williams were just 31.
