Shame - was really looking forward to Wood v Lara, that could have been a classic! (Although Wood might have dodged a bullet!)

Leigh said he tore his bicep but that he would be ready for a fight in December. AKA he didn't really want to fight Lara and he had second thoughts, no way you recover from a torn bicep that quick and can have an 8 week training camp to be ready by December for a fight. He's looking to hand his title over to Leo Santa Cruz for more money.

Great news. Good for the WBA. An upstanding organization. Let's enter 2023 with 13 weight classes containing 1 champion.

This is all very confusing. I suspect both LSC and Wood realized Vargas and Lara are just as risky for interim fights. And now the diva-ness in them suddenly diminished, particularly Santa Cruz.

Then there is this WBA which may be feeling cornered for their shady activities and trying to straighten things out. I mean letting an inactive LSC hold a title for 3 years with no pressure is strange.

Yeah you make a fantastic point. Because it's quite commonplace to set up VOLUNTARY defence of one's title, against a fighter you don't want to fight. Isn't it?
