How Competitive Is Vergil Ortiz Jr and Eimantas Stanionis

Vergil Ortiz Petitioned WBA To Have Mandatory Status Enforced Against Eimantas Stanionis.

fighting style wise both these fighters share some similarities, both are also explosive Orthodox fighters, they technically have the most refined jabs of their division, and both use a high guard as the primary method of defense.

However, despite their four-year difference Vergil Ortiz Jr seems to be the more experimented fighter checking the records of the fighters he faced in the contemporary times. Showing adjustments and demonstrated different wrinkles in his game.

Having faced before even turning 25 years old:
Mauricio Herrera (24-8) Faded fighter with an Awkward style difficult to defend against and cleanly hit. (30% KO ratio)
Antonio Orozco (28-1) Pressure fighter (61% KO ratio)
Brad Solomon (28-1) Slick Orthodox boxer (31% KO ratio)
Samuel Vargas (32-5) Faded Pressure fighter (45% KO ratio)
Maurice Hooker (27-1) Volume pressure fight with range of 80in/203cm (67% KO ratio)
Egidijus Kavaliuskas (22-1) Powerful Counter Puncher (82% KO ratio)
Michael Mckinson (22-0) Slick Southpaw (9% KO ratio)

    Side notes:
-Antonio Orozco was struggling to make light welterweight division as he came 7 pounds overweight against Roberto Ortiz and apparently Antonio Orozco fainted making weight once, he was taken to the hospital as a precaution and has been ruled out of his fight against Fidel Maldonado Jr. His biggest win is Humberto Soto in his professional career.
-Brad Solomon who was never stopped before, has a decent win in derailing Kenny Granados (13 wins with 13 KOs), Galarza won seven national championships locally and earned several recognitions in international competition. Brad Solomon also has decent wins in Adrian Granados (16-3) and Demetrius Hopkins (30-1-1)
-Maurice Hooker was coming off from a catchweight making short work of an unknown fighter Uriel Perez (19-4) who won all his fights by knockout after his loss. Vergil Ortiz Jr had COVID-19 in his training camp having one month coming to train with an injury before the fight.
-He was going to fight in March but had contracted that rare illness rhabdomyolysis, started his camp few months later to fight Michael Mckinson who had a 9% KO ratio whose biggest wins are Chris 2Slick Kongo (14-0) who defeated Formella and Przemyslaw Runowski (20-1) who defeated Samuel Vargas.

    Eimantas Stanionis opposition so far:

Luis Callazo (39-7) Faded pressure fighter (51% KO ratio)
Thomas Dulorme (25-4) Faded pressure fighter (64% KO ratio)
Radzhab Butaev (14-0) Technically skilled pressure fighter (73% KO ratio)

    Side note:

-Butaev sole notable achievement was recent, as he demolished Jamal James in an upset, also despite the Russian being quite technically he applies dirty tactics in his fighting style. He originally had lost Alexander Bes***** by Unanimous decision, but it later was ruled an No contest as Bes***** failed a drug test, Jamal James (27-1) biggest win is Thomas Dulorme and had only lost to Yordenis Ugas.

Hopefully the fight happens in November or December.

It is not only is in terms of technical skills and experience, Stanionis will get outperformed in terms of power, speed and overall reach.

Plus, difference between the two is that Eimantas Stanionis gradually breaks down his opponents in a war of attrition normally coming up in top with his work rate. The reason why he does this is so he can exploit openings and be able to land the better shots in exchange of receiving them.

Unlike the last fight against Michael Mckinson, normally Vergil Ortiz Jr tends to slip the opponent's punches by using waste movement, footwork to backpedal to create distance and also a tight high guard to block and parry like Stanionis.

However this also why they are both are susceptible of uppercuts when using the high guard and it leaves their bodies exposed because of this, even more so for the Lithuanian since he is more stationary to set up his punches.

Looking at their last performances Stanionis looked better, but for me its 50/50 fight, would love to see that fight in near future
