  • Comments Thread For: Maxi Hughes Edges Kid Galahad, Claims Majority Decision Win In Nottingham

Kid Galahad left the ring in disbelief. The former IBF featherweight titlist and his team could not have been more disappointed in the announced scores, as Maxi Hughes escaped their twelve-round lightweight bout with a majority decision win. Terry O'Connor (114-114) had the contest even, overruled by Marcos Morales (116-111) and Giulio Piras (114-113) in favor of Hughes in Saturday's DAZN main event from Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England.

Maxi Hughes is ready to collide with Kid Galahad in a battle for the IBO world lightweight title at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on Saturday night, live worldwide on DAZN (excluding Australia and New Zealand).

Hughes (25-2-2, 5 KOs) defends his title for the second time, after widely outpointing fellow Brit Ryan Walsh in March in his first defense, following his shutout win over the dangerous Giovanni Straffon to land the belt last September.

On the undercard, Denaby Main’s Terri Harper (12-1-1, 6 KOs) leaps up in weight to challenge Scotland’s Hannah Rankin (12-5, 3 KOs) for her IBO and WBA super welterweight world titles in an intriguing England vs. Scotland clash.

Former IBO and WBC super featherweight world champion Harper lost her titles at the hands of the USA’s Alycia Baumgardner on the undercard of Galahad vs. Martinez last year before landing the WBA Intercontinental Lightweight Title against Yamila Belen Abellaneda in March.

Hannah Rankin is 2-4 against fighters that have won a major world title in their careers, and the wins came against the same shot fighter that was 14-15 and then 14-17 at the times of the fights.

It’s more manageable in women’s boxing especially against an opponent as bad as Hannah Rankin , She is an absolutely pathetic boxer. and it just shows how bad women’s boxing is if someone like that can be a world champion

Having a quick watch of this before Joyce v Parker starts and it looks like there’s about 300 people in the audience
