Gennadiy Golovkin's return to the middleweight division comes with his next assignment in tow. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the WBA has formally ordered a title consolidation clash between Kazakhstan's Golovkin and Erislandy Lara. Both sides were notified Friday afternoon to enter an assigned 30-day negotiation period and reach a deal by no later than October 23 to avoid a purse bid hearing.

I would not sell Lara short ,I think he has better power than he is given credit for,when Angulo had him hurt, he bore down and finished him.

Lara didn`t finish Angulo. The latter had an eye injury and decided to stop, after dropping Lara twice while being hugged for half the fight.

Why doesn't the WBA enforce Canelo's WBA Super middleweight fight with their regular champion? No consistency.

The PBC can offer GGG a good 2-3 fight deal. PPV fight vs Lara (would sell better than Ortiz vs Martin). And then a unification with Jermall Charlo on PPV which would sell well.

The 3rd fight could be some wildcard fight at 168 like Benavidez or maybe Jermell or Fundara at 160.
