Comments Thread For: Golovkin On Staying At 168, Returning To 160: Will All Depend On Offers I Might Receive

LAS VEGAS - Gennadiy Golovkin is certain that he will fight again. The longtime middleweight champion's 12-round, unanimous-decision loss to Canelo Alvarez hasn't made him contemplate retirement. The 40-year-old Golovkin felt good in his debut at the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds, but he won't decide whether to return to the middleweight division until promoters propose fights to him.

G should fight in his home country, defend his titles and call it a career. He's going to the hof regardless of his detractors. Was fun while it lasted.

He needs to change trainers. Somone that will train him to throw at a constant pace. Robert Garcia, Maidana Style. He doesnt have the skill or speed. He just needs to rely on his atributes, which is being heavy handed.

Also agree he needs to let go banks for his few next fights ,he still unified at 60 so might as well just back to his natural weight,Lara, charlo are good fights justs adds more shine to his hof stats

He won the IBF and WBA middleweight titles under Banks. Why would he fire him? Because he lost to Canelo? At 40 yrs old he was never going to win that fight.

Going down to 160 would be suicide. Look at how he performed against Derev after fighting Rolls at 164. At 40 and coming down, he would be the most drained he's ever been. He's in a tough spot as both weights don't really offer any advantages.

Well to be honest he hasn't looked that great since switch abe sanchez for banks and he hasn't fought like top names other than Sd,murata and canelo fights wich he didn't looked so well in technical, tactical aspects ,yes hes forty but still durable and strong as hell,he really needs something different for few fights hes left given possible names he'll face there others top trainers better than banks he can choose from imo

I don't know if you want to experiment with a new style at 40 /41 yrs old. Especially if he's facing Charlo or Lara next
