At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) retained the IBF, WBA, WBO, WBA super middleweight titles when he outboxed Gennadiy Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) for the majority of their trilogy fight for a twelve round unanimous decision.

In reality Canelo could only beat GGG by decision when he was 40 yrs old! I hope the history books have an asterisk next to this fight. So Canelo lost the first two fights against the Kazakh. Then won a decision when the opponent was 10 years past his prime literally.

Not impressed. Lets see Canelo rematch a prime fighter in Bivol and get dominated again.

I felt Canelo beat GGG the 2nd fight....regardless, even if you thought GGG won the 2nd you would have to believe it was close and it could have been a draw...certainly not a robbery.

Bivol is a different scenario-has to do with the level of fighter as well as size. You guys actually applaud when a bigger guy beats a smaller guy as if it's supposed to be impossible. Maybe Bivol should fight Beterbiev. Most would believe that's the more fair option.

GGG clearly won the first fight. Canelo wasn’t confident about being able to win a war and fought too cautiously.

The second fight was close but no one can complain with a Canelo decision. He made adjustments that Sanchez’s strategy clearly wasn’t prepared for.

This third fight was boring. Unlike Bivol, GGG didn’t even throw, perhaps because he is too old now, but also Banks’ strategy was to bore:

Either way, that strategy was never gonna get the win this time, but they probably don’t care given the amount of cash they’ve earnt. It’s a shame they didn’t do this third fight straight after the second, then we could have found out who really was the best.

Also, Bivol deserves a lot of credit. He is 4 inches taller, but his reach is only marginally more (1.5 inches) - and he won dominantly. It was as much his speed, skill and intensity as his size.

I knew the excuses would fly when clenelo embarrassed himself by not knocking out a old man. Her feelings are really hurt. He doesn't know how to make adjustments when it's not looking good and better not go nowhere near the Charlo, Andrade and Benavidez smoke. He will lose.

Canelo is not great. At this stage any top level fighter can beat GGG by decision. GGG had troubles even vs Derevyanchenko. Canelo couldn't knock 40-year old GGG out. Benavidez would smoke Canelo.

It was truly a sad fight. G needs to hang ‘em up. Red is just on the back end and starting to decline. It’s just sad the trilogy did t happen when it should have! Wasted time=Boxing though.

I agree with most of your post, but not the bold

it was clearly obvious after the first fight that Canelo is better than Golovkin

at that point Canelo was not as abrasive, but it was clearly obvious that he is a better fighter

better boxer.... better counter-puncher.... better defense.... better ring IQ.... more skilled.... more well-rounded.... and, he was a huge underdog in that fight

Golovkin was a bigger underdog in the 3rd fight than Canelo was in the 1st. Stop rewriting history.
