Because it's not a positive thread man. Golovkin was an exceptional fighter who didn't get the early breaks that he needed to really shine. Happens to many, many super talented fighters. For every Canelo or Mayweather or Loma or DLH who get every opportunity to shine there's a dozen fighters as talented or nearly as talented who for one reason or another never got the same opportunities. It's one of the unfortunate side effects of the way the sport is structured and ain't really something to celebrate.

Look I know you ain't really got any issue with GGG it's just that you're upset that some posters ridicule your favourite guy, but that's how it is, no matter which fighters you like simple fact is not everyone will for whatever reason, stooping to the level of trolling don't make the forum a better place, don't particularly say anything much good about you as an individual and simply perpetuates the cycle.

Further to that I'd have to point out that whilst a lack of really big name MWs in the US market hampered GGG ability to land really big fights and his loss of about 3 years of his prime fighting Universum really stymied his chances of an elite career what you're mainly doing is illustrating that you really weren't following the MW division GGG was operating in in 2010 - 2015... nor followed the various intrigues by which various fighters either flat avoided (Sturm, Barker, Zbik) or chose lower risk, higher reward options (Geale, Martinez, N'Dam) or were on the other side of the HBO / SHO firewall (Quillin et al) - not every fighter is in the enviable postion of Canelo where they can wave the kinds of purses opponents don't turn down. Despite this GGG actaully did have a very good MW career and fought or attempted to fight most of the top MWs of the time... folowing his career from a virtual unknown (outside the hardcore) and watching him break out into the mainstream conciousness was in fact a real pleasure, as was watching the man fight. At his peak he was one of the very best in the sport - a methodical, calculated engine of destruction.

Were you even watching middleweight boxing 10 years ago, man? Impression I always got you're more the kinda guy who just follows a handful of the big name fighters in the US market and doesn't really pay attention much beyond that, but could be I got you wrong. Nothing wrong with that of course, we each got a right to enjoy the sport our own way, just strikes me the way you talk ain't like someone who was following MW back then

Look I ain't got any issue with Canelo, got huge respect for the dude as a fighter in fact, but the simple fact is that Canelo was groomed for success - the WBC and Vegas were looking for their next ODLH to keep the $$$s rolling in (they were trying with Chavez Jr first but he turned out to be a dud) - and was handed opportunity after opportunity to shine - and to his credit he had the ability to take advantage of those opportunities and the hunger to pursue them, but vanishingly few fighters get that kind of backing and those kinda opportunities.
