    This. A similar approach to what Bivol employed. If Canelo keeps loading up in the early to mid rounds (which he is prone to doing) they might step on the gas, and look for the stoppage.

    One thing is for certain; If they can get past the first 9 rounds, they have a real chance here. Canelo is just too heavy at 168lbs. And this was VERY evident against Bivol at 175lbs.

    The ultimate x factors here all about Golovkin;
    1) Will his power hold up in the late rounds with the added weight and advanced age?

    If Canelo doesn't get him out of there inside 8 rounds, it could make for a very interesting fight.

    GGG and his team seem very confident for a fighter is such an underdog.

        A lot has been said about this fight. I am hoping for an upset KO by GGG just to shake up boxing. It could happen--we will know tonight.

Something else nobody seems to be mentioning here, is that Jonathan Banks is his trainer for this fight.

          If anyone gets ko'd here, I'd say it would be Canelo. The only way GGG gets stopped, is if he's aged a lot since his last fight.

          Safest bet is Canelo by Wide UD. Even if GGG wins 7 or 8 rounds, Canelo gets the decision.

          GGG and Banks know they need the stoppage here. No way he gets the decision. Especially after Bivol got the nod against Canelo. He can't leave it up to the judges.
          Golovkin hasn’t looked great with Banks IMO. Not the trainer I would have picked if I were him.

            Canelo isn’t going to eliminate anything with a KO. He could have fought GGG in May 2019 and KO him and still not get credit. Now at GGG’s age, even less. He will get little to no credit. The only winner of this fight is GGG (payday), even he gets KO’ed in 3 rounds. Canelo gains nothing from this fight himself, other than money. But legacy-wise and eliminating any doubts, nothing.

            Canelo would be making more of a statement by fighting the winner of Bivol-Zurdo and winning. Especially if it’s Bivol again and Canelo manages to beat him this time. But GGG has been old news since his gifted decision win over Derevyanchenko in 2019. A fight where GGG literally got as beat up as you can get without going down. He looked like Arturo Gatti in there.

              Lmao! Canelo is just so freaking full of himself! “Erase any doubt” 4 yrs later against a visibly diminished 40’yr old at a heavier weight for the FIRST time…are you serious? This is a cherry-pick in disguise! Prime Charlo, Benevides, Ramirez, Munguia all are literally begging to fight you.

                    He better be careful he doesn't gas out by the 4th. It'll be a real good fight then.

But the reality is it will probably just be a close fight unless father time does what it will do. I don't know of any rivalries where the older fighter won the last fight, so I'm not sure about history giving GGG much of a chance, although most fighters are retired by 40. Either way, I seriously doubt the fight is boring so thats at least something that could make for an entertaining evening.
                      An example of an older fighter beating the younger one in their last fight of their rivalry would be the 4th fight of Pacquiao vs Marquez, when the older marquez sparked the recklessly aggressive Pacquiao. As a Pacquiao fan I was shocked, and bummed that my guy lost in such a manner, but in this case (GGG vs Canelo III), I hope that same thing plays out, except this time I am rooting for the old man in this fight...
