There needs to be lesbian pillowfight matches in between bouts. There also should be a special guest ref occasionally. Like right before the bell rings for a Vitaly / Lewis rematch you hear " and tonights special referre is (wierd german techno love music plays) Dr. Wladimir Klitchko. Im sure Wlad will dq Lewis after Manny sneaks in and belts Vitaly with a metal chair. Oh wait thats the WWE.
Truthfully, get rid of the belts so that either Don King will own all of boxing or none of it. Hopefully none of it. Wait........Don Kind could be the commissioner of boxing. Ok I'll stop.
Change the weighin to the same day as the fight.
make champions defend their title at least 3 times per year.
make big name fighters earn the wright to fight for a title.
scrap all of the daft belts.(keep ibf, wbc, wba+wbo only).
You said eveything I wanted to say, except for have some sort of fight replay for bad judging. You know if there is a major dispute in the judging of the winner of the fight, then it should be replayed by some sort of boxing commission or a panel of upper ecehlon judges to determine the winner.
There were two replies that I would like to respond to. The first being that weigh-ins should be held the day of the fight and also the reply about fights being viewed after the bouts have been completed because of bad decisions.
I agree that there is a problem with the weigh-ins. Fighters weigh in 24 hours before a fight and then show up for the fight weighting anywhere to 15 pounds heavier. I agree that this is an unfair practice. The problem is the danger that fighters would be putting them selves in with the constant practice of drying out or dehydrating the body to come in at weight. If the fighters weighed in just before the bout they would be in danger of not only dehydration during the bout but aswell, possible brain injury due to the decreasing fluid surrounding the brain that is lost during the drying out period. It is a problem only because the fighters have all, it seems, become accustomed to drying out before the fight, weighing in and then eating and drinking large amounts to regain the water and carbs. I did it and many that I know have done it or do it. Gatti does it on an unbelievable scale. Its a catch 22, damned if you do and damned if you dont.
As far as reviewing fights the next day, I believe that this is rediculous. While there have been bouts where the scoring was way off of target, it does not mean that we change the whole system. When a decision is rendered, that should be it. If we were to go to this video review than why would we not just get rid of the judges and have a video review the next day and then announce the winner of the fight.
Perfection is something that humans strive for but do not achieve. Every sport has human referees, umpires and judges. And in each sport there have been errors in the judgement of these officials. The N.F.L went to the replay and I think it sucks. Boxing would not gain by reviewing fights and over turning the decisions of the officials that are more than able to render a just decision. We are human and will see things differently than others, that makes the world go round.......Rockin'
Another couple of things that I would like to add. Requiring champion fighters to defend their belts every 4 months is not rational. These fighters are fighting the best fighters in the world, constantly. The damage sustained in fights can some times take 3 months to heal before they are able to even train again. And what if the champion had been in two consecutive wars. Giving aswell as excepting damage for the entire legnths of the bout. Forcing him to fight soon after could be deadly. These men would need and desrve a break. A tough football game is one thing but a tough fight is another. In the football games that team is always out there the next week playing hard again. In boxing the fighter may still be in the hospital the next week. Boxing is not like any sport and should never have a schedule attached to it.
Also, if your going to dump the belts than dump all of them. The boxing world would be much better off with only one champion and one #1 contender. This would force the good fighters to fight the other good fighters and then maybe our game could recover from the 5 belt bull****, to again have some credibility...........Rockin'
Dumping ALL of the alphabet belts would be the best thing that boxing could do to restore its image. 1 WORLD CHAMP IN EACH DIVISION, wow what a concept....

It's not an original concept. That's the way that it used to be.
I would like to see 15 rounds brought back. 12 is Mickey Mouse! Slightly lighter gloves as well.

1 belt sounds good to me.
But when a champion only defends his title once or twice a
year the number 1 contender can be waiting for upto 2 years
for his shot at the title.I understand that boxing is like no
other sport, but if the champ has a long lay off due to injury
the top 2 contenders should fight for the belt ,with him fighting
the winner at a later date.imo.
