An awkward style that allowed him to capitalize openings whenever his opponents missed, to make it more difficult he was a southpaw with power as he had 31 KOs out of 36 wins and only ever lost to Marco Antonio Barrera.

He however had a big ego, once he lost, he retired at 28-29 years old.

The closest one today who resembles his style is a Mexican featherweight called Luis Alberto Lopez who had been pulling upsets over the likes of Gabriel Flores Jr, Andy Vences and Isaac Lowe.

What is interesting about Lopez is that:

-Debuted late at 23 years old.

-He has been fighting at different higher weight classes at 135-140 at any opportunity.

-Lost to Ruben Villa who was highly touted for beating Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney in the amateurs.

-Was thought to be robbed against Abraham Montoya who lost to Flores Jr just recently.

-He is going to fight a British fighter called Josh Warrington for the belt.
