    Refusal to be Great

I hate when fans say the same **** that Floyd says..."If I were to fight them I would whoop them." What kind of nonsense is that? Floyd has always stated, "Well he called me out so I took the fight." Well, Shane just IMO punked Floyd's ass by stepping up to him on the canvas and state lets make the fight happen. There was no disrespect about that, Floyd's rebuttle of that being disrespectful and now that he should stay in training camp is a cop out and can easily be taken as cowardly dodging Shane. Regardless if Shane has 5 losses on his record cause that is what Floyd likes to refer to...what the hell does that matter? It's the best fighting the best at the proper weight class, instead of the illusions that HBO likes to portray on 24/7. I applaud several posters on here who have never been fooled by the hype machine antics of network television.

For the fans that so blindedly continue to bandwagon Floyd, continue your support and continue to applaud mediocrity. Yes mediocrity, everyone knows well that Floyd has phenomenal abilities but the man just down right refuses to great. He refuses to fight the best in his division and for that I cannot give a standing ovation. Yesterday's one sided mismatched was destined to come about the minute Marquez tried to jump two divisions from a division he was not even comfortable with. Why do fans choose to forget the fact that Marquez beat a washed up Casamayor or a pillow fisted Juan Diaz that staggered him with a perfectly timed left hook. Is it really any wonder that Floyd appeared so much bigger than Marquez? Floyd came in at a dehydrated 146lbs...while Marquez ate his way up to 142 lbs. That alone should have had whistles blarring in everyone's ears about the disparity in size before this fight even took place.

I blame Nacho and the handlers of Marquez for even allowing the fight to proceed. I blame the HBO hype machine for portraying Marquez as having a snowball's chance in hell of competing in this fight...but hey Marquez did receive a hefty paycheck and well deserved one at that but at what cost?

I don't blame Mayweather for taking advantage of the situation and being the business savvy person that he is when he took this fight knowing what he knows. Mayweather and his handlers are great manipulaters and students of the game. THEY KNOW BOXING. They all knew Gatti was finished, they all knew Hoya's time was up, or that Baldomir was the easier champ, or that Hatton was damaged, and Marquez was too small...but we the fans keep purchasing these fights because the fans are for some reason easily fooled.

Guys on Floyd's bandwagon...all I can say is support your man but demand the best out of your fighter or else he's just another loudmouth, arrogant, never gonna be great after the dust settles type of athlete that only lived in the moment but his actions will never echo throughout the sands of time.

The title of this entry says it all.
