  • Comments Thread For: Usyk Showcases What 'Rise To The Occasion' Means in Tenth Round

By Corey Erdman - In the ninth round of his heavyweight title rematch against Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk looked like he was headed toward a heartbreaking ending. After 21 rounds of fighting, the hulking Joshua had finally been able to impose his physical strength on Usyk and was grinding him down with a sustained body attack. For the first time in their pair of fights, Usyk didn't have any answer other than to retreat and cover up.

Very true. When Usyk was chanting, praying or whatever he was doing in between rounds was as if he removed himself from everything to a place where he was alone and one with a higher power. It was surreal to say the least. I looked at my wife and said, I have never seen a boxer disregard anything going on around him and go to such a deep place. It was special.
Tbh I thought it was a good fight regardless of some of bs haters here. I feel lucky to have witnessed it!

Round 10 is the reason to watch this fight.

AJ as always was ecocentric and "attention seeker" when he talked in the end. He needs to be in the center even when he's not the winner.

And also the rant about ucraina...it was tipical of him. One of the reasons I never liked him.

Usyk wasn't as hurt in round 9 as people think.

Watching it live, it's easy to get carried away.

Watch the round again, about 85% of those punches missed or hit gloves

Usyk kinda actually rope-a-doped AJ a tad in that round

That's Joshua, a big spoilt brat.

Like #6,although it was without a doubt Joshua's best round, I don't think rd 9 was as bad as the article makes out. Joshua missed a lot of punches and was primarily pressuring with size and weight not actual punishment.

Usyk is cool. He gets too much credit for beat AJ tho. Dude was living off a win over an ancient klitscko. Usyk won’t fight anyone but fury cause he’ll lose to Joyce Dubois and maybe even wilder

This. I always stated AJ is overrated. He's been very lucky he was in a time perfect for someone like him. But that time is vastly over. He would not been a top 10 in the 70s and in the 80s he would have been one of the many early ko for Mike. Later he would have been eclipsed by Evander, Rid**** and Lennox. And then destroyed by Vitali.

No way in hell Usyk loses to slow guys like Dubois and Joyce. they are f.ucking statues.

Usyk beats everybody except Fury. And even Fury must be 100% ready.
