  • Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia: Joshua Can't Outbox Usyk...But We're Also Not Going In There To Be A Brawler

Trainer Robert Garcia wants Anthony Joshua to pursue the middle course in his upcoming rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. London's Joshua was criticized last September for failing to be more aggressive against Ukraine's Usyk, a former cruiserweight and current unified heavyweight champion. Joshua himself has acknowledged the need to fight more assertively against Usyk and went out and hired Garcia, the California native and former fighter who is regarded as an offensive-minded coach.

Brawling is what led to Andy beating him.
He saw what he thought was an easy opportunity and jumped in at Andy recklessly.

When in doubt, do what you do best and hope for the best.

I think this is what people meant anyway when they said Joshua needs to be more aggressive. It doesn't mean rush in face first with no defence. You still keep your chin tucked and your guard up. You still move your head. You still use your jab. You still use feints. You just do it all with more aggression and urgency. Impose yourself on your opponent, force him to engage. Don't give a guy like Usyk time and space to pick his shots. If all that isn't working then maybe try to make it a brawl if you have nothing to lose.

AJ needs to do what Teo did with Loma the first 6-8 rounds. Stay ALERT and light on his feet and wait for Usyk to come in and fire off multiple, fast,’stinging jabs. keep Usyk on the outside. He should be able to win the fight EASILY with his left hand. He should not be hooking with Usyk. That allows him to get close and that ain’t good.

GULP!! Not very inspiring words from ya own trainer. Robert will likely go back to his lower weight fighters Monday morning.

Mark my words, when Joshua loses this fight, Eddie will beg and plead with him not to retire. If Hearn gets his way, it will be bum of the month club at Wembley stadium.

Eddie will instantly go from hailing Joshua as the best fighter and champ in the division to purely, “AJ is the money fight for all these guys, they won’t make any money fighting each other”

more and more we think about it, Eddie has made his name of Joshuas back. End of and era. “The final 24” so to speak for this camp of liars.

Roll on tonight so we can see This Cossack Warrior Usyk raise his Ukrainian flag and wave it in team Joshua’s faces! Glory to Ukraine.

This place is going to cleanse itself over the next few days and I’m here for it. Pmsl.

I hope he tries to jump and runn all night, so that usyk - who's not a fat a$*ed" guy - will catch him and win easily

How about a tall guy standing up, using their height, and lean back from the punches like Muhammad Ali did? That stops the full force of the punch. Take some lessons from Floyd Mayweather on how to avoid punches!

I always liked AJ. He's a decent guy. There's no reason that he couldn't knock Usyk out if he stays focused. He's a big guy.

Joshua needs to take it to usyk ..his punches did more damage than usyk could do to him early on

Joshua was nearly stopped most from exhaustion he needs to make a proper dent in usyk and get close and throw vicious hook combinations but to do that he will be open bit it's the only way I think
