Another point is Marquez was able to time Pacquiao's straight left. Imagine what Floyd will be able to do.

Pac might cause some problems because he is a southpaw but once Floyd adjusts it's over. PLUS Pac is easy to hit. OOOOOOO **** those lead right hands from Floyd would bloddy Pac up.

Look at this pic, this is an example of what he would do while Pacquiao is coming forward like a bull:
What you think?
Marquez and pac are great fighters but they do not belong in the ring with welter weights.

Was anyone surprised by this outcome?
Mayweather doesn't put on "performances" or "clinics," he instead "escapes" with victories against people whom everyone knows he'll beat before the fight starts. Yes, that includes an old DLH, Hatton, JMM, and the rest. He hasn't gotten into the ring with ONE great fighter in his prime.
Fighting Mosley won't change that. Shane is past his best, and his beating the VERY overrated Margarito doesn't make Shane a great fighter at this stage.
Mayweather is simply the best of a mediocre lot or even a good lot; sure as hell not a great lot. The notion that he allegedly did something "great" by coming out of retirement-- though in his prime physical condition and age, against an old, non-stellar opponent-- means zippo to me. Despite his retirement, he was favored to win. Which tells us all we need to know about what was thought of JMM.
Titles nowadays don't make a fighter great, either. If Floyd were fighting in 1980-81, I don't see him beating even one of the great champions in his weight classes: Arguello, Pryor, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Benitez. Later Curry, Starling, Breland, Chavez, Whitaker, etc. etc. Maybe he beats the likes of a Mancini or Bramble, possibly Cuevas, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
I admit I dislike Mayweather for his personality and maybe that colors my viewpoint, but I still always pick him to win-- not because he's great, but because the guys that he fights simply aren't that good. I said before and will say again that I think he'll beat Pac, too. Pac is a terrific fighter and with his buzzsaw attack might upset Floyd, but he ISN'T great at welterweight. He gets hit too much. He may be "great" P4P due to his successful rise through the weight classes, but at this point, if he fights Floyd at 147 or 140, it's still Ali or Frazier vs. Bob Foster, Pac being Bob Foster--a man who was not even a threat to the top heavyweights.
In my book, I simply cannot call Floyd great, because watching him and even ignoring the fact that the opponents are out of their class, he doesn't seem to have the skills of a great technician (like Whitaker or Arguello), nor the all-around game of a Leonard or Duran, nor the great offense of a Hearns, nor the ability to dominate most opponents with his punching or strength as did Hagler. He has won by KO often enough, but often enough he holds out his long arms, grabs, holds, and then escapes with a victory. That's against his best opponents. The others whom he KOs were never in his league in the first place.
This isn't a "great" fighter to me. His single-minded focus on not getting hit makes him no warrior at all, a boring fighter, and if a clinician, only on defense. Football is won by the team with the best defense, baseball is won by the team with the best defensive player out there (the pitcher). Boxing, conversely, is in large part an offensive sport, and here Floyd is lacking. In attitude more than artillery.

marquez is not like pacquiao.
they have different styles.
marquez is a counter puncher, and mayweather made him attack instead.
mayweather prepared well for the fight, and knew just what to do.
his lurching backwards and taking a few steps back plus his body and head movement
were all that was needed to avoid and/or dampen marquez punches.
marquez isnt a power puncher, hes just explosive.
hes a very good counter puncher though, but mayweather smart as he is in boxing
didn't allow that to happen by taking single jabs using his reach to his advantage,
and stepped back, scoring and leaving marquez empty.
pac and floyd are both gifted with the natural talent to box,
and unlike marquez who had a single style, unflexible type if i may,
pac can adjust to any fighting style.
and the thing that you can make no mistake about is that,
he improves with every fight.
he keeps getting better with each new opponent.
the tougher his opponent, the tougher he becomes.
he wont be a counter puncher like marquez,
hell be an attacker, flexible with super speed and power punches.
hes built and trained to bomb mayweather, even with his flexible style
and shoulder and/or backward lurch/step strategy.
every camp trains against an opponents weakness,
but some boxers are inflexible and never listen like hatton and marquez,
leading to their defeats.
pac and may with be the fight to be remembered in history.
so when their time comes, may the best man win,
because when two great warriors meet, anything can happen either way.

Floyd fights to win a fight the easiest way possible and that is by risking nothing.
oscar, baldo, and marquez were all fight where floyd could have put a stamp on his greatness but instead he plays it safe.
Bring floyd back from 130 lb division or 135 lb he was great defensively and he entertained. The floyd that fought in those division would have tko the three previously mentioned opponents.
Maybe the reason why floyd does not have hand problems now a days is because he does not fight in same manner that he did when he was lighter.
Either way his fights with oscar, baldo and Marquez were missed opportunities.
