    Floyd Destroys Tiny Marquez

Goliath stomped David into the dust Saturday night. Although Floyd Mayweather, Jr. didn’t knockout the obviously outgunned and smaller Juan Manuel Marquez, his performance was simply brilliant. Floyd looked indestructible as Marquez’ shots bounced off harmlessly, like golfballs from an armoured tank. To the incantations of his cornermen, “Yo whoopin his ass!”, Floyd easily swept Marquez out of the ring for a 12 round decision in which no fighter was really hurt. Marquez was predictably brave and game and presented a short but high profile sparring partner and yet another great payday for “money” Mayweather. Floyd weighed in 4 pounds over the agreed limit of 142, but refused to take the pre-fight scale. He looked enormous standing next to the little Marquez, a prior featherweight who now normally fights at 135. In the opinion of this writer, Floyd probably fought his tiny opponent whilst in the range of 154-156 pounds. The only time Floyd looked up to a boxer on Saturday night was after the fight when he was confronted by Sugar Shane Mosely during the post-fight interview, wherein I thought I heard the words, ‘Why don’t you pick on somebody your own size?”. But, Floyd didn’t want any of Sugar Shane and backed down quickly with a stream of curse words as the crowed booed. Sugar Shane’s confrontation probably constituted the tensest moment of the entire fight. Floyd then stormed out to a chorus of boos after refusing to answer Kellerman’s point blank questions about Floyd’s size.

Congratulations to Pretty Boy Floyd on his history making comeback fight!
