Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia on Joshua: AJ Has Everything You Need To Beat A Fight Like Usyk

Mikey Garcia believes Anthony Joshua's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk is all his to lose. The recently retired four-division champion from Oxnard, California recently had a chance to observe London's Joshua train for his highly anticipated heavyweight title unification rematch with Ukraine's Usyk on Aug. 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Joshua looks to win back the WBO, WBA, and IBF titles he lost to Usyk in their first fight last September at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Love the Garcias. As a trainer Robert is fantastic and aside from the whiny haters, Mikey has had a hell of a career. HOWEVER they are just whistling past the cemetery. AJ will start angry then fold. You cant change a fighter that quickly. AJ may get dropped. Just saying...

With respect, Mikey Garcia has never fought a fighter like Usyk.

Had he faced Lomachenko, he would have recognized exactly what AJ was dealing with.

These are highly-experienced and exceptionally well-drilled boxers who, hence, possess the knowledge to respond to near on any situation that could and should arise in the ring.

Joshua has a glass jaw, The only guy Usyk ever KOd was Bellew, but he had AJ doing the Khan shuffle. Everybody wants AJ to bum rush Usyk with all his muscles, but AJ has to box. His advantages in size and youth are not enough to hide the crystal skull.

It seemed like Mikey Garcia was retired, when he sat out that contractual dispute with...I'm gonna say Top Rank? Then he came back for a couple paydays, disappeared again.

Mikey ran out of 135 division like he stole something... just so he does not have to fight Loma.. Dropped the champion belt and everything...Mikey dose NOT know what he is talking about...

I think AJ does have it in him to beat Usyk EASILY. If he doesn’t win easily. He isn’t smart enough.
All he has to do is rewatch the Teo/Loma fight. Keep pumping that double jab and CONTROL the distance with his reach and high work ethic. He has to HUSTLE.

AJ had no answer for Usyk's movement and angles last fight. His only hope was to pray that Usyk couldnt keep up the pace but Usyk was well conditioned and AJ was the one that was gassed late almost cost him a stoppage loss.

I dont see what AJ can do with a new trainer in a few months.
