Comments Thread For: Prograis Determined To Stay At 140 Because of Potential Influx Of Big Names

Regis Prograis may soon find his division populated with some mouth-watering names. For that reason, the New Orleans-born, Houston-based southpaw sees no reason to flee from his career-long perch in the 140-pound division.

Prograis vs. Ramirez is way overdue! Glad the "Rougarou" will be back in a title fight real soon!

140 will fill up fast in the next year or two.
I Think it's a great decision to stay and meet them.
The cue at 147 is ridiculously long.
Prograis could make a HOF resume in four years.
      Zepeda, Ramirez, Haney, Stevenson, etc.

Nobody wants to fight Prograis. He don't have a title or a promotional company backing him so he will be cast out until he gets the Mando position for a title. Too bad he is not younger.

Prograis, sadly, will be the Andrade of 140lbs.

I agree with the Andrade comparison. Sadly this guy has become irrelevant

Not necessarily. With a win over Chon and the WBC belt,he plants himself right back in the picture. He indeed stalled his own career thinking he was a bigger attraction than he was but he has the opportunity to right his ship against Zepeda. Will not be easy and I can easily see Regis getting KTFO himself, but the opportunity atleast is there, hopefully. Andrade on the other hand Andrade is up **** creek without a paddle.

We all know that Ryan Garcia is not one of those, forget about Gervonta Davis too, but the potential fight that is drawing most interest is Teofimo, with recent back and forth twitter callouts. Now that Regi stands to win the WBC vs. Jose Zepeda, the 'Takeover' is coming.

His resume already ****s all over Andrade. Regis has fought four world champions (about to add a fifth with Zepeda) while BooBoo has fought zero.

and that’s without mentioning him being a unified champ who fought to be undisputed in Taylor’s back yard.

Fair enough. I don't mean to disparage either fighter but rather compare their earning opportunities. Both are excellent fighters, but neither is well connected or has a significant fan base. They don't presently bring money or hardware to the table, so fighters (management teams) will regard them as unnecessary risks for as long as they can. Prograis is not the star that he imagines himself to be, so he must take any b-side deal to get a marquee fight, win it, and then build from there. If he prices himself out of good opportunities he'll be bagging groceries like Andrade after he retires.
