P4P, not a chance. If you give him the two fights over Canelo, that' still only one HOF level fighter he defeated. Unless you generously consider Jacobs HOF worthy. An argument could be made as a top 20 all time middleweight.

he's up there with Monzon, Hopkins and Hagler.

Like Hagler, he was robbed against Leonard/Canelo.

Many may disagree with me, but Golovkin is a bad mofo! He had a few things working against him that makes the answer "no" a likely choice. Being from an eastern bloc country, Golovkin got a late start in the pros. HBO tried to promote his image and did, but it resulted in people not wanting to fight him. And then HBO dropped boxing. Let's be honest, whether he was facing bums or not, he destroyed most of them in dramatic fashion. And some were not such bums, but he made them look like it. Yes, Canelo fought him, but only after he started to get old, and he still had one hell of a time against GGG despite the official rulings. Then he said he wouldn't fight him again. But after losing to Bivol, suddenly he's willing to face a 40 year old Golovkin after 4 years. Jacobs and Derevyanchenko both gave him difficulty, but he dropped and decisioned them both. And neither of them are bums. GGG fought whomever would dare get into the ring with him, and the only guy who officially beat him had hell doing it. Would I say he's a top 10 great? Maybe not, but the thread asks if he is a top 20 great.

It takes a hell of a career to make it to top 20 and Golovkin is nowhere close. Top 20 at MW though.

One of the great questions of the era right?

                  Was GGG damn good? yes.

But is GGG an ATG? ....... makes you wonder.

Doesn't really have the resume and the only truly big fight on his resume is Canelo 2x where he has a draw and a loss. What should've been doesn't really matter. It's what the result actually was and it shows GGG losing and drawing.

So, I dont think so. Even though GGG is a throwback. He has that old school, always in your face, style, throwing heavy shots from a fundamentally pristine style. It's beautiful. But he's not an ATG. Is he?
