Comments Thread For: Arum on Spence-Crawford: I Don't Know How It Gets Done Without Somebody Wanting To Subsidize That Fight
Bob Arum has a hard time seeing how an undisputed welterweight fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford can make money for everyone involved.

Boxing fans just need to accept that this aint the mega fight that is going to "save" boxing. Spence and Crawford need to accept it, too. I see it selling 750k tops.
Bud earned over $20m in three years with Arum and is now suing him for being racist and loss of earnings .Buds a good fighter, just how good I don't think we'll find out .It doesn't help promotions either when Bud just sits there smiling and mumbling.I hope this long over due fight by this greedy pair gets made but my impression is neither seems that bothered.
The great match ups in boxing always sale. They won't do record breaking numbers but it will generate a lot of interests across a bigger audience. There is no bigger fight at this moment than this match up and there are no big super fights in the near future.
Offer it to Saudi Arabia - they have money to burn at the moment [drawing up plans for a skysc****r 75 miles long ffs]
but in essence, this is not a massive money fight (Hearn and Arum are in agreement here) , it's a fans fight. The problem is that boxer's at the top are paid too much - there! I said it!
Arum is a scumbag. Now that he isnt part of the fight, he suggests selling it cheap. Yet he doesn’t do that with any of his ppvs with name guys.
The fight will sell well. What it will not do, nor will any fight, generate the top Floyd level ppv sales.
Its a new era. This fight should do between 650-1 mil ppvs based on the quality of the match. These guys dont transcend the sport like Floyd, Tyson, odh or Manny. So expecting 1.5 mil plus is unreasonable and unrealistic imo.
