I thought Mayweather looked incredible last night. I really think that if the happened at a lower weight class the same outcome would have happened. I also think people need to give Mayweather more credit, because Pacquiao did the exact same thing jumping up from lightweight to welterweight to fight De La Hoya and destroyed him. Floyd landed 59% of his punches and only allowed Marquez to land 12% the entire fight. That is amazing. I have always been more on the side to trash on Floyd but I will really stick up for him after this fight.

I am in disbelief of how one-sided that fight was. I do have to give Floyd his props where that is concerned because I thought JMM would at least give him a run for his money. I said all along that I was picking JMM to beat Floyd, but that was more with my heart than anything else. I thought it was impossible that Floyd could score a shut out victory over a guy who throws every punch in the book and has the boxing skills that JMM does.
That aside though, the victory does look a little bit overrated because of how much bigger Floyd looked than JMM. His upper body looked bigger and his calves even looked bigger. And what is this bull**** of HBO not weighing him on fight night? That just helps cover up the size advantage. Floyd's supporters will make the excuse of Floyd not fighting a physically imposing fight and using boxing craft over size and fair play to that. But being bigger and stronger obviously helps you do that. I give Floyd his props for scoring a one sided victory over JMM, but I still will hold him accountable for what he does in the future. He needs to fight a Welterweight. The only guy that I think poses a threat to him though is Shane Mosley. Cotto and Pacquiao would get dominated.

What I remember, they fought in both in their favorite weight divisions at Featherweight and at Superfeatherweight during that time, and no one was bigger and had cheated that time!

mayweather looked so big, huge against this lightweight,i said it before and i'll say it again,he should not get much credit for beating a lightweight,jr.lightweight,,,,marquez looked slow, yeah mayweather had a lot to do with it,but the extra weight made him look slow and mayweather looked big, shoulders, arms, legs back, everything,no wonder he didn't want to weigh himself before fight,i bet he weighed over 160 pounds,i always thought marquez made a mistake when he wanted to fight at welter, should have just stayed at lightweight, good fights there,,oh and funny how floyd wants to trade and act tough with a lightweight, hope he does that with manny or cotto if he fights any of them, maybe cotto, you know someone his own size

marquez' body was even more shot than de la hoyas. you could see marquez was even sluggish moving up to 135, and then the 36 year old jumped 2 more weight classes. its incredible how floyd is given credit for fighting a man whos body was obviously completly destroyed. of course mayweather looked good against him, but hell, any of the top welterweights would have, or probably even better. i guess people are just too caught up in the hype to see what really happened.

Was anyone surprised by this outcome?
Mayweather doesn't put on "performances" or "clinics," he instead "escapes" with victories against people whom everyone knows he'll beat before the fight starts. Yes, that includes an old DLH, Hatton, JMM, and the rest. He hasn't gotten into the ring with ONE great fighter in his prime.
Fighting Mosley won't change that. Shane is past his best, and his beating the VERY overrated Margarito doesn't make Shane a great fighter at this stage.
Mayweather is simply the best of a mediocre lot or even a good lot; sure as hell not a great lot. The notion that he allegedly did something "great" by coming out of retirement-- though in his prime physical condition and age, against an old, non-stellar opponent-- means zippo to me. Despite his retirement, he was favored to win. Which tells us all we need to know about what was thought of JMM.
Titles nowadays don't make a fighter great, either. If Floyd were fighting in 1980-81, I don't see him beating even one of the great champions in his weight classes: Arguello, Pryor, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Benitez. Later Curry, Starling, Breland, Chavez, Whitaker, etc. etc. Maybe he beats the likes of a Mancini or Bramble, possibly Cuevas, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
I admit I dislike Mayweather for his personality and maybe that colors my viewpoint, but I still always pick him to win-- not because he's great, but because the guys that he fights simply aren't that good. I said before and will say again that I think he'll beat Pac, too. Pac is a terrific fighter and with his buzzsaw attack might upset Floyd, but he ISN'T great at welterweight. He gets hit too much. He may be "great" P4P due to his successful rise through the weight classes, but at this point, if he fights Floyd at 147 or 140, it's still Ali or Frazier vs. Bob Foster, Pac being Bob Foster--a man who was not even a threat to the top heavyweights.
In my book, I simply cannot call Floyd great, because watching him and even ignoring the fact that the opponents are out of their class, he doesn't seem to have the skills of a great technician (like Whitaker or Arguello), nor the all-around game of a Leonard or Duran, nor the great offense of a Hearns, nor the ability to dominate most opponents with his punching or strength as did Hagler. He has won by KO often enough, but often enough he holds out his long arms, grabs, holds, and then escapes with a victory. That's against his best opponents. The others whom he KOs were never in his league in the first place.
This isn't a "great" fighter to me. His single-minded focus on not getting hit makes him no warrior at all, a boring fighter, and if a clinician, only on defense. Football is won by the team with the best defense, baseball is won by the team with the best defensive player out there (the pitcher). Boxing, conversely, is in large part an offensive sport, and here Floyd is lacking. In attitude more than artillery.

Letter to Mr Floyd
Dear Floyd,
You have proven once again how SMART you are!
1. You hand picked an opponent who fights 16 lbs lighter than you.
2. You cheat on the agreed upon weight. (contract 144lbs came in at 146lbs)
3. You kicked a smaller, slower, weaker fighter's ass then claim #1
4. You tricked/fooled boxing fans again, into paying for onesided matchup
5. You even got nervous when Max and Shane asked why you wont fight a REAL Welterweight.
PLEASE. PLEASE. Im begging you Floyd. PLEASE PLEASE. Fight a REAL welterweight. PLEASE. here is a list just in case: Clottey, Cotto, Margarito, Mosely, Berto, Cintron, Quintana or Williams.
I promise if you fight any one of these welterweights I will give you the respect you deserve. As of right now, your just a BAD ASS Lightweight. I'll even respect you if you go back to 140 or 135 and reign there...BUT 147 ... we need better opponents for you to take on before anyone makes the claim of BEST Pound 4 Pound.
Dont think for one second that beating a shot delahoya (which gave you problems with his jab) and a B Class Fighter named Hatton gives you the right to CAMPAIGN as the best in WELTERWEIGHTS. Just not happening. You can fool the mainstream but not the TRUE Boxing Fans.
If I were you Mr. Floyd, I would forget about PACMAN... Its gonna be anther size mismatch. But you decide... MONEY... or MONEY AND RESPECT! Pacman = Money; A legit WelterWeight = Money and Respect. YOU CHOOSE!
Now go drink some Piss... LOL LOL LOL

JMM, thought that he could lure Pac to fight him when he called out Fraud...
Now, you got bump off the line for the Pac sweepstake... if Pac wont retire, win, lose or draw vs Cotto....
Boring Fight of The Year...
