Austin "No Doubt" Trout improved his record to 35-5-1 with a majority decision win over Florin Cardos (21-4) on Friday night in Germany. The former super welterweight champion has now won 4 fights in a row since his 2019 split draw against Terrell Gausha.

Trout still trucking along at 36 and gets an MD in an 8 hour affair. His opponent wasn't the highest caliber, having been blasted out in the second round by his previous opponent.

Not sure I want to see Trout against anyone relevant at 154 at this stage of his career.

Yeah, I liked Trout, but soured on him after his performances against Jermell and Gausha. He simply isn't busy enough. As Keith Thurman talked about in an interview recently, when discussing mentoring younger fighters, you win a fight by landing punches, not with defense. You need defense, of course, but as in any other sport you win by scoring points.

I liked the way Austin fought Hurd, but he couldn't keep up that work rate to keep Hurd off of him because he couldn't hurt him and he gassed out. But, I liked his determination in that fight. I looked up the scores on this lastest fight and found them via a Las Cruces newspaper (where Trout is from): 79-73, 76-76, 78-76. in the article it says: "It's been almost a year since I last fought," Trout said in his post fight interview. "The ring rust, I felt it. I didn't feel as sharp as I should have been, but it was sharp enough so I'm happy with the outcome. I'm trying to go get another world title. If I get a fight in the next two months, you will see a different person."

Personally, I don't see him getting anywhere near the top level at this stage in his career. He is who he is at this point. Imagine him against Fundora or Castano.

not sure what you mean by 8 hour affair, but yeah, when I saw MD against a no-name opponent that's what I thought - but maybe it was just an off card?

I wanna see Fundora given a shot - Trout's time has come and gone unless he steps back up and earns it

Pardon, my apologies on that. I obviously had work on the mind...I meant 8 round affair.

Fundora brings excitement, I agree. I was very skeptical of him at first. I thought he was just a novelty but would fall (literally) as he stepped up competition. I think it was around the Gallimore fight that I realized he brought the goods. More Towering Inferno please.

Trout's done. If he's just scraping by or doing just enough against these caliber of fighters, he's fish food? for the rest of the guys in the division.

There is no longer "no doubt" with Trout. Think he's on hole 17 or 18 of his career at this point. Maybe a rematch with Gausha?

He could fight for the british southern area title I suppose. Or the Ocieana Pan Pacific.
