If it was, Kovalev and Plant would’nt have dived like a fish vs the biggest drug cheat on boxing history, PedNelo Alvaroids.

As it is IRL, it's only illegal if you get caught

Should blatant mismatches be allowed is a better question.

Yeah, it's a felony is most jurisdictions. It's basically fraud. It's illegal in the US and most countries.

From what I know, it's not so to protect the integrity of a certain sport, its more so to protect the gamblers that bet on outcomes.

One example in boxing was that case of that fat Danish dude Brian Nielsen. One of the fighters that Nielsen fought said that he was paid to take a dive by the promoters. Long story short, the courts not only found the promoters guilty, but they also found the fighter who admitted to throwing the match guilty. You could pretty much lose your license, pay hefty fines, or even spend time in jail for doing this.

That's why it's just better to do other things to better guarantee a favorable outcome for a fighter. Things like draining opponents, making fighters come up in weight, making someone fight on short notice, etc. aren't illegal.

Not saying it doesn't happen though, we've seen some SUSS stuff from judges in the sport. However, promoters know that in order to get convicted, the courts have to have some reliable proof. So, over the years, these fellas got better at hiding it (paying judges under the table so no one can trace it in the court of law, etc). Putting matchfixing verbiage in contracts could easily be unearthed by any low tier prosecutor, so mfers aren't putting "no knockout" clauses or other stuff in contracts.

Source - I took some Sports Law class in college and wrote a report on it

Well.... WWE is scripted.... Boxing it would probably be illegal if people can bet on it?

But let's be honest.... just look at the damn score cards in many of the fights. I bet no one also looks at how the judges families bet on fights either.

Beyond that, paying off Judges is not even about direct payments.... how many are given gifts, sent on trips, etc.

It’s 100% illegal to outright fix a fight, but a lot of times, you see it plain as day. Complete mismatches or promoters stacking the cards against the “B boxer” making it tougher for him to win.

The “A boxer” is supposed to win against the “B boxer” and you see it with rising prospects all the time. Put no hopers in a complete mismatch.

Its not fixed, but it’s a wide mismatch.

Judges know who’s “The Guy” in a match too. The guy who’s supposed to win, so think about that. And if I’m not mistaken, judges are directly hired by promoters.

And you can already see how things are “supposed” to play out. “Boxer A is being set up for a BIG showdown that is sure to hype up big and bring in a lot of money. All he has to do, is win against Boxer B.” It happens so much.

There’s a lot of grey area, but you can’t call the things I mentioned above a fix.

To me, a fix would have to be outright a promoter threatening or paying someone to do something to change the outcome of a bout.

You’re crazy. I love J hoes. I’ll never forget what you told me.

You told me that J hoes will sing you a lullaby as you suckle on the nipple. That made me really excited, in multiple ways.
