Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: If Canelo Fights Bivol Again, It'll Be Worse; Canelo Is Too Flatfooted

Oscar De La Hoya does not hold out much hope that his former charge Canelo Alvarez can defeat Dmitry Bivol in a rematch. The founder of Golden Boy Promotions, De La Hoya was asked during a press pool for the upcoming Ryan Garcia vs. Javier Fortuna lightweight bout in Los Angeles about whether or not he thinks Alvarez can be successful against Bivol in a second fight. Bivol defeated Alvarez by unanimous decision in May to retain his light heavyweight title

Fury, Canelo, Toney, Locche. Three of my all time favourite fighters are flat footed.

More precisely, flat footed slick fighters. They look pretty sweet until they fight movers.

Seemed to me it was just too much of a step up in weight class. Beating a shot Kovalev gave him way too much confidence...so much in fact people were talking about him facing Usyk....

Canelo plays hours and hours of golf..

If he focused more on boxing and recovery…

He could strategize a way to beat robot russian, Bivol is nothing special

Canelo is not as great as his fans want him to be.

That is just how it is.

First he was taking shots at Canelo, now he's taking shots at Reynoso too! This is becoming a "novela!"

He should accept Bivol's offer to fight @ 168 for the rematch!

Golf in an excuse for the ironic truth that if bivol is nothing special, then neither is canelo.

De la hoya speaks the truth. However there’s also the factor of canelo being clearly undertrained and over confident, without any strategy or respect for his opponent. Canelo does have the tools to perform better in the rematch, it was just a terrible showing imo.
