Comments Thread For: The Timing Might Be Right for Chocolatito-Ioka

By Cliff Rold - This golden era at Jr. bantamweight got its latest chapter on Wednesday. In dominating fashion, 33-year old four-division titlist Kazuto Ioka (29-2, 15 KO) avenged a 2018 loss to now-40-year old four-division titlist Donnie Nietes (43-2-6, 23 KO). Nietes suffered his first loss since 2004 while Ioka notched his fifth defense of the WBO belt at 115 lbs.

Donnie Nietes was a thorn in Kazuto Ioka's career, that 2018 L halted his ( Ioka's ) progress at 115. At the time Runvisai had a su****ious decision and KO over Gonzalez and then Juan Francisco Estrada was also setback with his own questionable loss to Sirsacet.

And again, recently, 'Chocolatito' has been slowed-down with a controversial loss to 'El Gallo' ; it would seem that bad judging is keeping certain careers from advancing. Did I mention that Donnie Nietes also had a close call in his last fight with Norbelto Jimenez and then before with Aston Palicte? You see what is going on here?

I'm thinking that promoters are rigging the cards at Superfly-weight with the popularity of this red-hot division blowing up.

Good fight for both guys, and for boxing. The Japanese will probably pay Gonzalez well to fight there as, having spent a lot of his career there, he is well known.

The division is heating up and people are paying attention key word is "paying" still there are more fight fans checking out the flies then have been in the past so who knows what the match ups will be or how they will play out but where there are eye's there could be dollars and some great fights still to be made and some battles to be had......hope so any how.
