To be considered really great, you have to be able to knock people out, and you have to be able to take a serious shot without becoming debilitated. When he came up against Alvarez, he showed he can't take a really heavy punch -- certainly not like Canelo could, who took GGG's best and kept on fighting -- and when he got caught with a good one, it was over. Plant is a good fighter like Amir Khan is a good fighter. Just not quite in that top tier.

Plant must know this, so it's hard to tell whether he's doing a sales job for his next fight or is legitimately delusional.

I like Caleb but he's narcissistic to say he's an all time great. His sense of reality is not realistic. He's not even the best white boy pure boxer of all time. That would go to guys like Jimmy Slattery, Tommy Loughran, Maxie Rosenbloom, Del Flanangan, and of course, Willie Pep. There are many, many others who would have to be rated way above Plant, that's only talking about white guys who are pure boxers. Not to mention every other nationality, and boxer punchers and sluggers. The few guys I mentioned by name all boxed between 100 and 300 pro fights and managed to keep themselves off the floor for most of their careers. they were proven over a longer period of time against tougher opponents. Can't put Plant anywhere on any all time great list... he only has about 22 pro fights. His breath still smells like breast milk

          I don't think so.

Caleb Plant is world class, but reality is? Any all time great fighter with his style.

Should of really be beating Alvarez.

Caleb Plant has the actual style that gives Alvarez issues.

Speed, Movement, Distance, decent enough defense and accuracy.

Only issue is? Plant is not really elite in all of his attributes, whether those are technical attributes or physiological.

Note: Floyd Mayweather Junior was being out weighed by close to 20 pounds or more vs Alvarez. And Mayweather beat Alvarez easy, 12-0 to 12-1.

So theoretically a genuine super middle weight, with a similar slick style to Mayweather. If that fighter was at all time great level in terms of skill?

Canelo Alvarez should not be beating that type of fighter at Super Middle Weight. Alvarez would not win a round vs Roy Jones Junior, and he would also be dominated by Bernard Hopkins etc.

His defenses were embarrassing. ATG? VADA better get a good sample from this guy because he's definitely doing drugs!
Those last few rounds vs Uzcategui always stuck with me and made wonder how Plant would fare against Benavidez type of pressure for 12 rounds.

I agree that Caleb Plant is delusional and not nearly an ATG or close to Floyd's level

but don't compare the prime Canelo that ¨Sweet Hands¨ fought, with the green, weigh drained, not yet in his prime, most pathetic version of Canelo ever, that Floyd fought

Caleb would have beaten that version of ginger too

Because you have to look from his perspective, the resume to him were fights that he had to fight, not a view from TV, actual hard work and get in that square, lots of competitors have an elevated inner belief that only time and reality will change that mindset, but without it they can never get to the top, so don't attack the guy for thinking like this, its a prime requirement in a top level fighter.

As the quote goes, if you think you can lose you have already lost.
