as you know i defended floyd on this very same forum, even considering him amongst the greatest. but i'm man enough to admit that man oh man i was wrong .. and more than a fan of any fighter, i'm a fan of the sport first. i always knew why people hated him but i really didn't pay much attention to the things i really didn't like about him ... thinking he'd prove everyone wrong as time passed.
his actions show me otherwise and it's sad.
it's sad when things like this happen and you're faced with the reality of things. and that's when you have to be honest with yourself.Comment

Trust, I had to deal with the same **** when Margarito ****ed up. In a sport of hurt, I can't get behind guys who blatantly and dishonorably try to get ahead. It hurts the credibility of true sportsmanship and takes away from the honest competition in it.
Fan of the sport before the fan of any man.Comment

A fair fight would be a mixture of advantages and disadvantages for both fighters.
Not one fighter holding all the advantages, and then at the last minute creating a further advantage on top of that.
Bottom line is, this fight is a farce and I pray that JMM will upset the odds.
is that what you really want to see? good fighters reducing themselves so that worse fighters have a better chance at beating them, is that the only way we can achieve that pugilistic nirvana of "competitiveness"?
how about we let them fight each other, both at the best they can be, and prove who's really better? instead of writing off an opponent on assumptions and speculation to the point where we prevent the pressumed more talented individual gaining anything from actually substantiating the perception of his ability.
i find it ironic how serial floyd detractors on this forum like to brandish their little "should have, could have, didn't" slogan but would now not only be be completely content to cling on to their own baseless conclusions without even witnessing the fight, but actually use this ignorance as a tool to preemptively further discredit the man. you can't have your cake and eat it too.
tl;dr version: yes, floyd holds a small weight advantage but how do we know he's better than or can beat marquez until after they've fought? and you can't allocate just how much credit mayweather will or won't recieve for a win before the event has actually taken place and the conjecture becomes tangible, that's ridiculous and a blatant indication of an agenda.
i realise i've rambled. sorry. i've started drinking already.Comment

You mean apart for the obvious and accurate
- He's a Super featherweight fighting a welterweight
- Floyd moved the goalpost the night before the fight, removing the one possible factor that could have evened the fight out.
You don't need anymore than that, which is why this fight should never have been allowed in teh first place as more than a few of has been saying for MONTHS.
Roy Jones Jr. moved up multiple weight classes and fought at a 20+ pound dissadvantage the night he beat John Ruiz for the HW title. That right there is the mark of a great fighter and dismantles your arguement that 4 pounds is gonna decide the fight. That's a petty excuse and you should show pee-pee mouth more respect then to make that goofy arguement.Comment

so in order to compensate for being more skilled... he should be physically hindered? maybe have a shin splintered? or not eat for a week before a fight?

If hes so great,
why not just fight an actual welter to avoid all criticism?

This weight arguement is petty and the fact that you're pulling that card before the fights even happened speaks to how highly you think of Mayweathers skills and how much you doubt piss mouths.
You Marquez fans should hold your heads in shame.Comment
