Who would have won this fight? Miguel usually has the strength and power advantage, but honestly, how does he stack up to Oscar a larger man? Were talking about 5 9 vs 5 11. Both guys were battle tested at 160 (Martinez) (Sturm) and it would be the battle of the left hook monsters! Pacman said Cotto was unbelievable, money said Cotto was the strongest he faced. Cotto went toe to toe with Mosley, but we've all seen him and hoya 2 times was competitive. Who has the better right hand btw? Cotto rocked Ricardo Torres with one. Oscar rocked Fernando vargas with another one. I honestly don't know who would've won this fight! Stack them up in a time you think was best and talk about the outcome.

I don't think Cotto has the power advantage. I think De La Hoya hit harder, with his left hook.
But Cotto may be slightly stronger physically, not by much.
Tough fight to predict.
I think it will go the distance, with De La Hoya winning on points 'De La Hoya maybe scoring a knock down or standing 8 count at some point'.
Speed =De La Hoya. Jab = De La Hoya, but Cotto's jab can compete. Power = De La Hoya has the hardest punch i.e His left hook, but Cotto is a better body puncher, Movement = I think both fighters are level in this department. Durability = De La Hoya, but Cotto's durability is impressive. Tactical awareness = Both fighters are level. Combination punch ability = Depends what you like, I think both fighters are level. De La Hoya could throw a high number of punches in bunches, while Cotto could throw classic combinations very well.

I'm surprised Cotto never called him out for the payday, the Cotto who showed up for Margarito 2 vs Oscar from Mosley 1 snapping Shane's back with power jabs, were phenomenal.
Btw, an example of a young fighter calling out a cash cow: Juan the baby bull Diaz saying Manny Pacquiao s name, daring to be great!Comment

Bad chin, Torres almost killed him at 140, got run out of 147 after taking blistering beatdowns. Oscar, TKO 4-6.Who would have won this fight? Both were great boxers able to adapt.
Of the 2, Cotto was always easier to find.
He didn't have a punch a person feared.
DLH's left hook was always on an opponents mind and kept them honest.
I'd also rank DLH's chin as an ATG.
I don't recall him ever being seriously cut.

I remember the Torres fight. I also remember the build up to the Martinez fight. I thought Martinez would take him with his crab walking and left hand power. Before the fight a pic of Martinez looking pretty chubby for him circulated. Then during the documentary portion of the build up Martinez’s team wouldn’t let the film crew film him training, sparring or anything out of his tracksuit. That gave me pause. I still didn’t see the Forrest from the trees. My dad who is levels ahead of me as a lifelong boxing fan said that Martinez was leaking oil and would lose. Boy did he. Also my brother said that Canelo would run Cotto off the road but he fought hard and made it close. All that being said, I still think Oscar beats him. More size, length, and just as good of a hook. If it was close Oscar knows how to steal rounds by being flashy and he had stroke.
