Derevyanchenko outlanded GGG in the power punch category in 11 of 12 rounds.
Canelo outlanded GGG in the power punch category in 9 of 12 rounds.
I remember after the Derevyanchenko decision, I was very surprised GGG got the decision. It was an awful decision.
For the Canelo fight I remember knowing Canelo won a close fight. Good, close fight. Probably the last time we would see GGG look good vs a good, prime fighter. And that really was.
With that said, Derevyanchenko fought a worn out, past his best GGG and he was good enough to show that. As we saw with Szeremeta and Murata, not just anyone can do it. It takes good fighters.
I fully expect Canelo to, if not KO, really fck up GGG over 12 rounds. I know GGG had a great chin, and Canelo is a blown up MW, so it could go 12. But I think even if it goes 12, Canelo will do a ton of damage. Worst than the rematch, worst than Derevyanchenko.
