Is Hopkins Ripe For The Picking?

If the proposed match between the king of the middleweights Bernard Hopkins and undefeated Jermaine Taylor does come off,who will win ? I'm sure the odds will favor Bernard but there will probably be a good share of Taylor money out there. What the odds may reflect comes down to the age old question. Is the aging champion taking on one fight too many ? [details]

I don't think so, Bigbear. Hopkins should hang up his gloves. He may have a few fights left in him, but if he gets beaten now, it takes away so much from his legacy. Too many fighters stay around for too long. He should be smart, and hang it up while he's on top of the world.

Hmm, someone else pointed out that it would really be against his legacy to not fight again. That's probably right. He should take out Taylor, then hang it up.

I think he should have 2 more fights. Next fight should be Sturm & farewell fight should be Taylor or Trinidad. He already took out Trinidad I say take on the young lion & call it quits. Nothing left to prove.

I dont think that Taylor is quite ready for Hopkins yet, Hopkins should take the fight against Taylor and then possibly the winner of Trindad/Wright and then retire, however he seems to be after Sturm. He has allready said that he would not fight past his 40th Birthday (which is in January) so that would probably allow for another two possibly 3 fights.

Poeple act like he aged in a year, he gets cerdit for beating Oscar (a suspect match), he becomes hyped more than ever after that, than gets cerdit for beating Eastman after the Oscar fight, but if he loses to Taylor, or Trinidad this year, they get no cerdit for him being old?

They say u get old over-night. His legacy is cemented. He should fight Sturm,Taylor,Trinidad. In that order. If he doesn't take too much punishment(I like TIto for the revenge). Then fight another big-money fight.

I think I remember him saying in the Eastman fight he was gonna take Taylor (or maybe now Sturm in replacement), Tito and Glen Johnson
