Can Caleb Plant be champ again??

After Caleb's loss to Canelo, he has been quite low key. There were rumors of Caleb coming back to fight Dirrell, but that dwindled away. Since then, no updates or anything tangible at all.
Yet, he has mentioned coming back in certain interviews to face the 'top names'.
My personal take is that he WILL NOT fight Benavidez next, which I think is a fight overdue.
I am not sure if he will be the same after the Canelo loss mainly because the layoff. The momentum is fading away and how many fighters have fallen off after their first loss in their careers.
I am not necessarily saying Plant will fall off, but he may just not be the same again.

    Your thoughts.

No. As long as Canelo and Benavidez are at 168, Plant will never hold a belt ever again.

      I agree man.
Pretty clear and to the point. I think he can be among the top 5 but not champ with them names you just mentioned.

With Jacobs, Andrade, Benavidez, Canelo, and possibly Charlo (if he decides to move up) sharking the waters at 168 =---> I can't see Plant holding a world title.

          I honestly don't either man.
I really like Plant but looking at all this as logically as possible, I think you are right definitely.

In these situations it's not about wether he could be. He just won't be given another opportunity. He was never really a business A side fighter so he adds no monetary value to a fight and trying to get back as a mandatory takes too long. Same goes for anyone Canelo removed from the 168 pound rankings. Callum Smith for example is unlikely to get another shot unless either Yarde or Buatsi win at 175 and try to milk a Wembley PPV defense.
Once Canelo brought money into the division...no namers got driven out.

              - - Plant is well on his way to being a rutabaga, or maybe a turnip or squash.

              Eggplant souffle anyone?

                Wow interesting breakdown.
I didn't see it like that. And quite accurate too!
Sounds like that is what may very well happen

I just wonder if he's going to fight again period. Hope he doesn't turn into an angry drunk and start beating his announcer wife.

I mean, it is hard to say.
I think he will come back but, that Canelo check really seemed to make him complacent.
