What does Jesse win? it seems that Sor Rungvisai does not improve Jesse's standing among the top Superfly-weights ( Gonzalez-Estrada ) -- 'Bam' cant even fight his brother at the weightCastilo likes this.

Of course they are not going to fight each other, but Bam would be dumb to drop his 115lb belt to drop down and fight no-names (Edwards, Nakatani, Dalakian, etc) when the flyweight and superflyweight stars are being lined up for him. He's got leverage with that belt so it makes a whole lot more sense/cents for him to stay there and have the old guard (Sor Rungvisai, Chocolatito, Estrada, etc) come to him. Now that he's got Maloney in his rear-view mirror, Josh Franco also has some great options working with DAZN (through Golden Boy). Eddie Hearn will probably work to hook up Bam first since he's signed with Matchroom, but there is room at the top for both brothers between 112-115. Not sure if Josh Franco is ready to step up to the Monster at 118 (he's not).
I'm not too sure that Sunny Edwards or Julio Cesar Martinez are no-names, they even promote themselves even better than a Sor Rungvisai or a Juan Fransisco Estrada or even a Kazuto Ioka. Junto Nakatani, is making waves in Japan and has some buzz after beating Angel Acosta on ESPN. Nakatani is close to a 50-50 fight vs. 'Bam'.
Having said that, Edwards and Nakatani fight on other platforms, whilst the prominent Superfly-weights are on DAZN. This fight with Sor Rungvisai is more of a necesity for 'Bam' to keep lucrative options available -- which for reasons stated may not be many.
I dont care, i'm going to enjoy the fight this Saturday.

Eddie Hearn and Teiken promotions got it twisted, initially, the plan was to go back down to 112 where there are very good fights for 'Bam'. The way I see it, Jesse sees the bag right in front of him and does not want to take that paycut being the challenger at 112 to a Julio Cesar Martinez, a Sunny Edwards a Junto Nakatani.
The thing is, this went against Hearns plans, as he now promotes Kyoguchi and Nakatani, both guys Rodriguez would run roughshed over.
Like what PBC did with Beterbiev, you can sign a dangerous guy simply to keep him away from the guy you're actually trying to promote(Stevenson).
Rodriguez was literally scheduled to fight Bermudez, who he was going to wipe out in max 3 rounds, before Hearn pulled his fastball so that Kyoguchi consolidated against him. If the fight went through, he would've had to consolidate against Rodriguez, who would've annihilated him.
At flyweight, hes going to try to make Nakatani-Martinez now that its obvious Hearn’s tenderizing Martinez, trying to build up Junto so no plans for Rodriguez there either.
This is Hearn trying to get this kod wiped out. Why doesn't he have the japanese guys move up instead of fighting tin cans? lol

its very rare to see a top promoter engaging in politics at these lighter-weights. But I cant believe that I forgot that both Nakatani and Kyoguchi have recently fought on DAZN! It must of been those early hours in Japan for the last Nakatani defense that it slipped my mind.
Yeah, I like to see Junto move up to 115 and Kyoguchi to get it on with Kenshiro. Incidentally, a venture to Superfly is a goal of his ( Junto ) . 'Bam' Rodriguez vs. Junto Nakatani is another fight that excites me -- hell, there is just too much talent at 112-115 for the Japanese to not commit to a big fight! Whats going on with Kazuto Ioka? OH YEAH, hes fighting Donnie Nietes, HARD PASS.Last edited by 1hourRun; 06-22-2022, 03:40 AM.
