Honestly, a lot of their fights are crazy mediocre to me but the Serrano vs Taylor had me jumping out of my seat. That was the best women's boxing fight I ever seen.
I think women’s boxing has improved skill wise a fair bit over the last few years. MMA womens seemed to far ahead for a while skill wise. Plus there’s a lot more ways to finish an opponent in mma.
The biggest problem with entertainment value in womens boxing seems to be the lack of knock downs and knockouts. Womens fights can be bloody and violent but they just don’t seem to carry that one punch power compared to the men. They are tough as hell no doubt about that. It’s just if the odds are expected that the fight will go the distance most of the time it’s hard to sell. Plus that leaves it up to the judges more often than not which can lead to controversy.
I know people say it’s sexist that they get only two minutes instead of three. But would people want to watch longer womens fights when they know the odds of it going the distance is greater than the mens fights? I’ve heard commentators talk woke and say longer rounds would mean knockouts. Yeah maybe in a sense but I doubt adding %33 more time would equal %33 more knockouts.
It’s the same as tennis. The females do a best of three sets instead of the mens best of five. It takes longer for women to score points and they get less aces. To win best of five sets for women usually takes way longer than the men. So there is a relativity here not always sexism. I personally enjoy the long rallies of womens tennis but I don’t want to watch a three hour match.
Nobody HAS to watch anything. Promoters want to sell the best product possible which makes the most money for everyone. People/commentators make fun of light punching boxers and sell hard punchers that can end a fight in one punch. If you want to back up womens boxing then they need to find a way to make it as potentially shocking as mens fights. Maybe lighter gloves? I like womens boxing and they are pros and tough as heck. I just don’t want the PC army to come in and ironically shoot them in the foot.

Do you think there would be more KD and KO’S if they had 3 minutes instead of just 2. Guys **** around to
The 2/3 round imo. I would think women would
too! Just a humble
opinion for myself.

I don’t think if they added %33 more time to each round it would result in %33 more KOs which would still just keep it the same as it is now. What I’m trying to say is I don’t think more time would contribute to a higher amount of KOs per minute of boxing. I personally think if they added more time you’d just end up having to wait longer between KOs. My point is the women don’t seem to hit hard enough to get those explosive one punch KOs. I think adding more time would only dilute the KOs per minute.
Guys come up in boxing with KO streaks and sometimes first round KO streaks. There’s nothing like that in womens boxing. Even in womens mma a girl can get KOd in the first minute in a top level fight. You can’t sell any women’s boxing match as explosive and potentially ending at any moment at this point.
