Should Vergil Ortiz Jr sticked with RGBA?

Before Ortiz left RGBA, Mickey Garcia and Jose Carlos Ramirez lost their latest fights, being unactive at the gym long after their bouts however Vergil Ortiz Jr was primarily coached in his latest camp by his father Ortiz Sr and Hector Beltran bringing sparring partners such as Madrimov and Butaev for which was his most difficult fight to date against Egis Kavaliauskas. For this fight Robert did not attend instead he sent his son pita in his stead to be able to tend to Joshua Franco for his bout against Andrew Moloney in a rematch for a eliminator at super flyweight, the trainer Robert Garcia has been getting more recognition lately after the victory of his youngest prospect 22-year-old Jesse Rodriguez against Carlos Cuadras at one of the hottest weight divisions in the sport, new prospects have been joining his stable lately including contender former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Manny Robles has shown with all of his fighter's improvements from fight to fight but his most well-known fighters have been leaving such Jessie Magdaleno, Oscar Valdez and Andy Ruiz.

Currently his top fighters had been in a losing streak such as Terrell Gausha lost against Tim Tszyu, Emilio Sanchez against Mauricio Lara, Carlos Castro lost to Leo Santa Cruz, Jamel Herring lost against Jamaine Ortiz and Brian Castano lost to Jermell Charlo in a competitive rematch.

Was this move a good choice? as mentioned above he will be also trained by other two coaches which is his father with previous amateur background and Hector Beltran which he worked under Gene Vivero at Vivero Boxing Gym who worked with Erroll Spence before.

They visited Eddy Reynoso's gym, but he was quite unactive after Canelo's camp as stated by boxers of his own stable. Reason why two of these boxers left him and one of them had to build his own gym hiring his own coaches besides eddy. His top fighters also have a bad rep at the moment as Ruiz struggled against a 40-year-old Chris Arreola, Valdez lost one sidedly against Stevenson and Canelo was dominated by Bivol. If Vergil's team decides to change trainers again, should he come back to RGBA or are there more suitable coaches for him out there?

      Only time will tell.

But I do think it is good to switch up trainers throughout the course of one's career. It is a good way for boxers at times learn new ways of implementing things or thinking inside the ring. Also on a personal level you get to experience different coaching methods and see what works best with you.

Similar to any other job there has to be a fit both with the work you are doing that allows you to grow more and on the personal level because when you feel good you often get the best work and results.

I don't see it as a bad move.
From the looks of it. Vergil's dad is Head Trainer.
Manny's a coach who knows just as much as Garcia.
With just about as much Experience.

Vergil Snr's traing his son with the Assistance of Manny Robles IMO.

This might be too soon to say as he hasn't actually fought with a camp alongside Manny Robles, he is going to co-train with Vergil Ortiz Sr who is going to be the Main trainer as he already had experience with multiple coaches during his son's amateur and professional career so the results will not be solely on Robles.

The fact that he got multiple of boxers fights against elite contenders also speaks well of him if you consider the circumstances, both Carlos Castro and Emiliano Sanchez have not faced anyone of note before theirs bout, a fading 34 years old Gausha was a dangerous fight for Tim Tszyu and Brian Castano attained a WBO belt from beating Texeira who previously defeated Carlos Adames and thereafter had a draw in the first bout against Jermell Charlo the well accomplished brother, Also as previously said he is the one who made Oscar Valdez, and Andy Ruiz into champions, not Eddy Reynoso. Jamel Herring is an exception since he was physically done after the loss against Shakur Stevenson.

Manny Robles had quite a bad year in 2022 but to be fair RGBA has had its share of losses in 2020-2021.

Robert Garcia is not a good trainer. If you want to be elite this is a guy you don’t need.
