great year so far in terms of matchups and excitement. the problems are INACTIVITY, judges and a lack of stars. casuals like stars.

I do think we’re getting better matchups and more fighters going for undisputed titles

Undisputed fights like Kambosos v Haney and Charlo v Castano just in the past month. They might not always being great to watch but at least it’s getting top fighters in with each other

Taylor and Canelo also become undisputed last year, Shakur and Inoue one belt away. Fury v AJ/Usyk winner will probably happen.

So I do think now become undisputed has become much more appealing to fighters recently, there seems to be a bigger emphasis on it, that’s good because it makes top fighters face each other. I think it gives other fighters desire to fight the best.

Hopefully that also starts to wash away the mentality of being undefeated means everything. It doesn’t. If AJ was to beat Usyk in the rematch, he’ll be hot property again and everyone will be clamouring for Fury v AJ, the fact he has 2 losses on his record won’t matter. A loss here and there wont mess up careers if you come back well. The more fighters that realise this, we will start getting the fights we want to see.

But there’ll always be fights that are difficult to make , like Spence v Crawford has been. It’s such a fragmented sport where it is basically just lots of separate promoters and networks and things trying to do business. it’s not like UFC where everything is under one banner, so it’s in their best interests and easy to make the best fights. Boxing is basically independent businesses trying to do business with each other, and if it doesn’t suit them, then it doesn’t happen. thats just the way it is and it’s never really going to change.

So even if I do think we are getting some good fights in boxing, there’s always going to be some that don’t seem like they can happen because of politics and that’s bad for the sport.

You still don't get critical matchups if there is a check for a record that can be sold (PBC fighters won't fight each other for Canelo). Of course, there is a risk-taker here and there or guys who have to take a risk for a good purse.

Crawford vs Spence - PBC doesn't think Spence can win
Benavidez, Charlo Munguia, Plant (before he sold his record) and Andrade 160/68 log jam - Ok, they don't want to fight Andrade but they won't even fight each other.
Tank, Garcia, Haney (took a risk) but I don't think the other 2 will
Ortiz vs Ennis will take 5 years to happen

Overall it's been ok this year but could have been or be better
These situations are the biggest reason fans feel negatively about the sport . Almost all involving PBC

I don't see it any different from other times. Right now it lacks a couple of superstars but there a many popular/good fighters.

We are about to get Spence/Crawford, so things are not that bad.
