I am not making excuses and i am not a fan of him. But his almost 2 year inactivity and at 32 years old, maybe its hard for him to lose the weight.

Well, It was a fight at jr. middleweight where Oscar put it in the contract. The WBC title was on the line. I am not sure if the fight was a catchweight though cuz Oscar came it at 154(official weigh in). The 154 division was his natural weight at his age.
