    Gervonta Davis vs Rolando Romero Generates Around 275k Buys

    Dan Rafael @DanRafael1
    Per source involved in last week's event, the #DavisRomero Showtime PPV will generate nearly 275k domestic buys, which will represent
    @Gervontaa
    's best selling of his 4 PPV events. The replay of the fight will open Showtime's tripleheader telecast on Saturday night. #boxing

    For those who keep asking about
    @Gervontaa
    's PPVs: 1. Rolly Romero will be about 275k 2. Santa Cruz between 200k-225k 3. Barrios 210k-215k 4. Pitbull Cruz touch over 200k Tank is consistent & growing his audience. He's generating way more $ than a license fee would cover. #boxing
    Plus around the 5M gate he did. Tank is definitely on a different level compared to only a select few stateside.

        It’s about revenue more than the numbers. He doesn’t have a 20 to 30 million dollar guarantee so that number plus the gate makes the event successful.

            I guess that isn't bad for a semi super star in boxing vs an unknown trash talker that only had 13 fights prior. Still, we probably shouldn't be supporting these type fights if we want better ones to be made if they're going to be charging PPV for them.

              The PPV game has also changed with the digital buys and how much less cable/satellite providers take.

              And Floyd/Pac were doing in the 300k range until they fought DLH.

              This PPV generated more revenue than a PPV that would have done 350-375k buys back in the day.

                  Is this plus his 5M gate supposed to prove he is NOT a star or something?

                    Numbers are down across the board for every fighter and I think that’s why we haven’t seen Tank fight the best guys in the division. Floyd said it after the Cruz fight that these fighters need to be realistic about the money they want to get a Tank fight. And I think that was a direct shot at Devin Haney who grew up in his gym and he’s known his whole life. Ellerbe said at the press conference after this fight the fights that everyone says are big aren’t that big to them. It’s obvious they’re not going to lose money making these fights and to be honest they shouldn’t have to.
