Many people not being fair to Clarissa because she's a black woman and talk trash as if she were a male, however she has the talent and accomplishments if she were a male to be called great and highly decorated but due to the racism in the world this is what we get! I think Marshall is talented and a good straight puncher and I'm pulling for my Michigan native, but I must admit this isn't going to be easy. Dam the fact she eat Clarissa when she was 17 because Marshall was 21 and that's a big development stage and difference for many in boxing. The same could be said had Floyd who is 9 years junior to me, and when I was a pro would he have had a shot hell no.

Shields is battle tested. I think she'd have more knockouts if they were fighting 3 minute rounds. She punches hard enough to keep other boxers from walking her down. She's a cut above skills wise.Comment

Just had a look at Marshall for the first time. I watched 2 fights, both ending in KO. the second was against Hemmans. I noticed that she has very good feet, feints a lot both with body, fists and head. Good head movement. BUT..she has a wide open posture, very low hands, depends on her head movement and fast feet to get her out of trouble, a good fast left jab but a lazy, slower right hand. Avery nice left hook which is her KO punch. She is an attacking fighter.WBC, IBF, WBA middleweight champion Claressa Shields believes a victory in her upcoming fight with WBO champion Savannah Marshall could be just as big as the April win by Katie Taylor over longtime rival Amanda Serrano at New York's Madison Square Garden.

I can see Shields rushing her, with both hands going, which may put Marshall on the defensive, where she prefers to attack.
As a side note ,I saw Shields-Gabriels fight, it was a good, all action fight but the scoring was far too one-sided. I noticed that Shields goes straight in with little or no head movement. So Marshall may be able to keep her at the end of her very good left jab. Shields will be 4" shorter, and likely a lesser reach of 68".
I think a potentially very interesting fight.Comment

Shields has to talk and hype herself up because she is not being marketed at all. She knows that she has a small fan base and is trying to increase it. Unfortunately I think a lot of people just do not like her as a fighter and her big mouth. Laila Ali was likeable, Lucia Riker was likeable, Christy Martin was likeable. Shields can be likeable if she were more humble. She hasn't earned her spot by being in tough fights and having to dig down to win. She is loud to bring attention to herself. She is crossing over to MMA to bring attention to herself. I think Clarissa is skilled but not a very likeable person. She is a modern day "Larry Holmes" in a women's division.Comment

In this article, Clarissa is quoted as saying:
1. This fight can be as big as Serrano-Taylor
2. Marshall didn't earn her status or work hard for it
2. The fight should be in London because of how great she is and because Marshall is built up as a knockout artist
3. The UK is building Marshall up as a knockout artist, but they're going to be disappointed
Rather than being the absolute truth, this appear to be a self-contradiction. The fight between Serrano and Taylor was big because it was a match of two of the highest-level performers in women's boxing. She simultaneously wants to say her fight will be as big while refusing to give any credit to her opponent.
If what she says about Marshall is true, not earning her status, then how can it be as big as Serrano-Taylor?
It also sounds like she is guaranteeing disapointment (see 3 above). Not really the biggest sales pitch.Comment

bearing a slow ponderous Marshall simply does not give you bragging rights in a sport we’re only 2% are very good and 8% are competent , you can guess what the other 80% are like and that includes (as I embarrassingly write this) so called world champions ( by alphabet feds of course)

I just don't understand your comment. Marshall is neither slow nor ponderous. She is the very opposite. The only thing "slow" about her is her lazy right hand cross. I rote about it above. And I noticed, when I specifically watched her, that it isn't always "slow". It depends on her other movement, and what she has in mind. Her "slow" right hand is not meant to be a finisher, but just a follow up punch to her left lead.bearing a slow ponderous Marshall simply does not give you bragging rights in a sport we’re only 2% are very good and 8% are competent , you can guess what the other 80% are like and that includes (as I embarrassingly write this) so called world champions ( by alphabet feds of course)
You need to understand boxing to know what I mean, so....STUDY UP ON IT...!!Comment

One thing Shields says is true. She (Marshall) didn't work hard for it. But the reason was that she was KO ing them, In her 10 KOs out of 12 fights, only two, passed the third round. One reached 5 the other reached 7. All the rest were 1-2-3 rd KOs.

3 fights barely reached the 1st min. of the 1st round. The total rounds for 12 fights is 40, and 10 of the fights were not the full 3 mins.
Likely many were not very good fighters,; Hannah Rankin was, and lasted 2 mins into rd 7. Hemmans was, and she didn't last 3 rds; Shields obviously has had the better opposition, and has a non-stop style. But Marshall is tall, long reach, fast, shifty, good movement around the ring, fastish, good left jab, and a killer left hook. I'm expecting an interesting fight, as Shields can be KD'd,
The question...... can she be KO'd.Comment
