I don't know much about football, but I disagree that betting is part of being a diehard fan. ******** has nothing to do with appreciation for the sport, it's an activity in and by itself completely unrelated to athletic activity. I''m a hardcore basketball, boxing, and baseball fan, and I've never gambled in my life. I feel it's ****** to risk money on something you cannot control. Everything tells me Floyd will beat JMM, but the outcome is not in my control, so I won't risk MY money. The way ******** on boxing works is, if he ****s up, I'M screwed. Doesn't sound too smart to me. I see how it can be suspenseful and thrilling to some people, but not to me.

I used the word ****** because I believe that risking a cash loss is a very bad move. Of course, it can work out the other way, and the thrill of that possibility is what gambler's love, but I just don't consider it a very smart financial decision.

Please educate me - what's the difference between betting for football and basketball? I think ******** on NBA games is a pretty safe thing, because there are rarely any upsets, but I'd still never do it.
