Comments Thread For: Erislandy Lara Drops, Rocks, Stops Spike O'Sullivan in Eight Rounds

NEW YORK - Erislandy Lara returned to the site of his last competitive fight Saturday night and defeated another huge underdog. The 39-year-old Cuban southpaw stopped Gary "Spike" O'Sullivan at the start of the eighth round of the co-feature before Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero met in the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View card at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Lara hurt O'Sullivan badly with a left hand just before the seventh round ended, but O'Sullivan was allowed to start the eighth round.

Good W by Lara, doesn't have the same legs as he used to but this version of him is still very good.

Fair stoppage...but those commentators were deek riding. They called every shot that Lara threw...and about 3 of O'Sullivan's punches even though according to stats Spike landed over 60 power punches. They called it a clinical dissection...which is a joke.

Especially in the lower classes, he can stop this level for another few years., will probably get him back into a big fight before he is finished.

Lara was expected to win by KO. O'Sullivan was hustling a bit but he was in control.

They claimed also that the bell didn't ring at the end of the 7th...a clear excuse as to why Lara was able to hit Spike 2 seconds after it actually did ring.

Lara and the whole telecast crew is trash. Rolando has to win by ko. Everything rollie does will be ignored.

Luis Arias should be matched against Lara.
