Comments Thread For: Romero: Tank Got His Ass Beat By Cruz; Showed He's Scared Of People That Can Crack

Rolando Romero can't say Isaac Cruz did enough to upset Gervonta Davis in their 12-round fight December 5. Romero credits Cruz for exposing weaknesses in Davis' game, though, that the undefeated contender is confident he'll exploit when they square off Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Cruz caught Davis with the type of flush punches that made Davis wary of getting hit, according to Romero, who considers himself a bigger puncher than the heavy-handed Davis.

“I mean, Tank didn’t perform as well that fight,” Romero told Showtime’s Brian Custer for an episode of Custer’s “The Last Stand Podcast” earlier this year. “But, I mean, a lot of people say Isaac Cruz won the fight and all that stuff. I don’t think he won the fight. I think Tank won that fight convincingly, you know? Regardless of his performance, it’s just he had a difficult fight with some dude that he thought he could get out of there and he couldn’t get out of there.”

The problem for Rolly with this logic is he is right Tank won the fight and he didnt do what everyone expected for whatever reason. The reason I say it's a problem is that fight didnt so much reflect what Tank couldn't do it reflects what Cruz can do and that's take a mean punch and be relentless. Rolly hasn't proven that. In order for him do what Cruz did he will have to walk through fire and we wont know if he can until Saturday night. In my humble opinion Tank has shown a solid chin but Rolly has yet to face someone that can hit him back.

Cruz is leaps and bounds better than Romero, who is amateur at best, why do you think Tank picked him?, Romero has a big mouth which maybe will sell some ppvs, along with Tank wanted a gimme with novices buying the fight thinking this is an actual challenge....

He sure did... Martinez is one hell of a fighter! Apparently Martinez got planked his next fight, or so... (palm slap). Everytime I look for some reassurance with going with Rolly... (palm slap). He holds his jab out, loops his punches... BUT he hits hard... he seems to have a decent chin... This kid has to jump a level and attack Tank nonstop until he cracks him good, if he has any chance.

Thing is: Rolly seems to understand this. Now, lets see if he can back it up.

Cruz might be more fantastic than people realize... He is not big for the weight, and does not have elite power... BUT he applies pressure in an excellent fashion, has a rock solid chin, and hits hard enough through accumulation. He really took Tank to the woodshed imo. I don't care anymore about what judges declare in these fights... he got the better of Tank because he pressured Tank and could take those shots.

I would love to see Cruz fight Ryan.
